“Shane?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you want to talk?”
“Now?”
“No time like the present. We have at least 20minutes before we are back, no point sitting in silence.”
“We aren’t exactly sat in silence. I quite liked that song.”
Carmen smiled, “Yeah it is, I’ve heard her album is awesome, I might have to buy it. Try and mix some of her things”
“Cool”.

Carmen looked out of the window, signing softly she turned in her seat to face Shane “How have you been?”
“Carm” shane began but stopped knowing that they needed to talk and like she said they weren’t exactly doing anything “I’ve been okay I guess. How about you?”
“I’ve been well”.

They sat in silence for another few minutes “Well that was a good conversation wasn’t it” Shane laughed.
“How is work?” Carmen asked while her head was screaming ‘small steps small steps’
“Busy.”
“How is Shay?”
“Good”.
“Seeing anyone?”
“No”
“How are the girls?”
“Great”
“How is Shane doing at school?”
“Well”
“What is two times two?”
“Four”

Shane shook her head and looked at Carmen puzzled. “Why did you ask me what 2X2 was?”
Carmen just laughed.
“Seriously Carm, being over in New York has fried your brain.”
“No, I wanted to see if you were really listening to me. I got bored of your one worded answers and thought I would throw something random in”.
“Oh okay, well I was listening, just concentrating on driving. I heard everything you asked”
“Then why the one worded answers?”
“Why not?”

“Why don’t you ask me a question, anything you like and I’ll answer truthfully”
Shane looked at Carmen then focused back on the road.
“Why did you move to New York?”
“You know why”
“You’re not being very truthful”

“I moved to New York because you broke my heart, I thought it would be best to get away for a while. To clear the air, get some distance between us so that we could think. Too see what we really wanted. I got offered that contract and I grabbed it with both hands, it was the perfect excuse.”
Shane nodded already knowing that. “Why did you come back?”
“Because I got offered a promotion and I grabbed that with both hands also.”

“Why?”
“I knew it was time to come home, I had missed everyone. My family and the girls, missed just hanging out with you all. Going to the planet for breakfast, gossiping on random people; and I missed you.”
Shane sighed, smiling slightly “What about Amanda?”
“What about her?
“Where is she?”
“She went back to Atlanta.”
“Why?”
“She got headhunted by a nightclub chain. They offered her a better employment package, better incentives plus it meant she got to go home as well.”
“So are you two together?”
