    Chapter 10

    Previously… 

    The two women had adjusted comfortably in the loft since Bette was released from the hospital three weeks ago. The only sign of any injury she sustained from the accident was the leg. She had started physical therapy shortly after being released from the hospital. It had been painful for Tina to watch the recovery process. She felt responsible for the whole thing and had to reassure Bette many times that she was not staying out of guilt or obligation and that she was staying because she wanted to…end of discussion. If she had only given Bette the chance to explain and given their relationship another chance instead of letting the affair be the end all…things may have been different. It was agreed that Tina would stay with Bette at the loft in the guest bedroom while she recuperated from her injuries. Neither woman said anything about the sleeping arrangements changing anytime soon, but both were missing each others touch and comfort each provided in bed.

     

    Chapter 10

     

    Bette sat at the kitchen table and watched as Tina rolled out the dough on the marble slab. Tina reached up to push to loose strand of hair away her face and managed to leave a streak of flour across her forehead in the process. Bette let out a chuckle.

     

    Tina looked up from the dough she was rolling to Bette. “What are you chuckling about?” Tina blew at the strand of hair that had fallen in front of her eyes.

     

    “Nothing…it’s just that you’re cute with that smudge of flour on your face,” Bette teased.

     

    “Go ahead and laugh while I slave away in the kitchen,” Tina replied as she smoothed out the dough for the apple pie she was preparing. “Come and help me with my hair.”

     

    Bette placed her hands on the table and pushed herself up. She took the three steps to Tina and stood behind her. Only inches separated the two women. She reached up and pulled the hair tie from Tina’s hair. The silky tresses fell to Tina’s shoulders and caressed Bette’s hands. She inhaled the familiar scent of the shampoo as she leaned forward slightly to gather Tina’s hair and in the process pressed her breasts against Tina’s back. She took a quick breath at the contact.
