    Chapter 10

     

    Tina placed her hands on the table to steady herself. She let out a barely audible moan. She wanted to turn around in Bette’s arms and just hold the brunette close to her and never let her go, but it would Bette’s decision to make so she waited. What was only seconds felt like an eternity to her and she wasn’t disappointed when she felt Bette’s warm breath on her ear.

     

    “Tee, turn around,” Bette ordered softly. She stepped back slightly so there was enough space for Tina to turn.

     

    Tina released the table and slowly turned to face Bette.

     

    Hazel eyes connected with brown eyes.

     

    Bette searched Tina’s face as the blonde did the same. How could she have cheated on the woman standing in front of her? Tina was her heart. How could she have turned her back on her heart? She had driven herself nearly insane in trying to come up with a reasonable explanation and she couldn’t even now…even now as she stood in front of the blonde, she had nothing.

     

    Tina took in the mocha beauty before her. She saw the emotions displayed on her Bette’s face. She was close enough that she noticed the pulsing vein on Bette’s neck. The scar on Bette’s hairline was barely visible. The plastic surgeon had done a wonderful job. Tina reached up to trace the scar.

     

    Bette eyes fluttered to a close and she pressed her face against Tina’s hand while she traced the scar.

     

    “You’re so beautiful, Bette,” Tina whispered. She leaned forward and kissed the scar. How could she have thought she could live without her? The woman who stood before was so strong on the outside, but inside she was so vulnerable. She had forgiven Bette for her affair with the carpenter while Bette was lying unconscious in her hospital bed.

     

    “No, you’re beautiful,” she paused. She cupped the side of Tina’s face. The pad of her thumb caressed the cheek. “You’re the most beautiful person here.” Her throat tightened with emotion. “I love you,” she confessed.
