    Alice and Shane commiserate, Bette and Tina plan to get away, Dana manages to keep Al and Shane out of trouble, and Helena and Lara enjoy some downtime. (Oh, and can you say Danish interruptus?)

    “Our options are limited, but we think we can keep Winnie in custody,” Whit said via speakerphone. Helena, Lara and Peggy exchanged looks while waiting for him to continue. “We were able to secure an emergency order to freeze all of her assets and holdings, including the two million dollars. She should not be able to make bail personally, nor will she be able to provide collateral.”

    “Does she know we have done this?” Peggy wanted the element of surprise.

    “She was served notice this morning. We had no choice.”

    “You’re sure this will work?” Helena wanted more than thinks and shoulds when it came to keeping Winnie behind bars.

    “There are no guarantees,” Whit said quietly, “but this is all we can do and I have a reasonable level of confidence that it will.”

    “Thank you Whit,” Peggy said, ending the call. She sipped her scotch thoughtfully. “You are not to worry my dears. If this does not work, we will use every resource at our disposal to ensure that you and the children are protected from Winifred.”

    Shane and Alice spent two hours not talking, dawdling over a lunch they didn’t eat. Eventually Shane got up and went to the bar, returning with two boilermakers and a sullen smile.

    “I don’t think this is what Yoda would do,” Alice said wryly and slammed the shot. “But I gotta say, it’s what Alice would do.” She chugged her beer, savoring the warmth she felt radiating through her chest. “Wish I’d thought of it.”

    “You might want to slow down lightweight,” Shane said. “It’s been a long time.”

    “Two drinks are not going to kill me,” Alice snapped. “You ready for another shot?”

    “I am now,” Shane replied as she slapped the empty glass down on the table.

    Dana called Kit from the car and waited for her to come out. Neither had been able to reach Carmen and Jenny wasn’t due back for a couple of days.

    “Are you sure you can handle those two?” Kit leaned into the driver’s side window. “I didn’t actually cut them off, but they’ve been drinking half the alcohol for the past hour or so.”

    “What happened?”

    “I don’t know,” answered Kit. “They ordered lunch…they both seemed pretty quiet, but okay. Ingrid thinks they ordered their first drink a couple of hours ago. She also says she doesn’t think Alice has had nearly as much as Shane, but they’re both pretty trashed. I made them give me their keys before I called.”

    14. LMFAO great chapter, it took me two days to read it I’ve been in and out so much but I’ve got to say amazing. LOOOOOOVE drunk Alice, and Dana was spot on perfect and even though I am nothing like Dana I felt strangely connected to her actions lol. Another perfect chapter, I can’t wait to see what Alice does next she might be fighting a lovely hangover though. Perfect BMB Absolutely Perfect!!!!! Post Soon.
