Masked Feelings CH 78 Unsettled
Dana sighs.
Shane – I don’t know what the fight was about but maybe I can get you to talk about it over coffee. I’ll call you in the morning. Go home and get some sleep. We’ll figure all of this out in the morning.
Dana – Fine… I’ll go home.
Shane – Don’t sound so defeated… this is just a little bump in the road.
The line was beeping.
Dana – I have to go. Someone’s trying to call.
She quickly disconnected and retrieved the call.
Dana – Hello…. Alice… is that you?
All she could hear in the background was a crackling sound of a lot of interference.
Dana – Hello? Hello?
The call was lost.
Dana – Damn it! Where are you, Alice?

While Roxy was waiting for the deal to finish, she took the package of hamburger and the prescription strength sleeping pills out of the grocery bag. She tried to mash the pills as best as she could on the dashboard with her knife. She swept what she had crushed on to a piece of paper with her hand. Making the burger into balls, she pushed her thumb in the center to make a well. She poured the white substance in the center and worked it into the meat by kneading it. If it didn’t kill the dogs, they’d be down for a hell of a long time.
She waited a good half hour before she got out of the old junker of a car that she bought only a couple hours ago. Her new Suv would only stand out like a poor thumb in this part of the neighborhood. Roxy dressed in black so that she’d blend into her dark surroundings. She slipped a ski mask over her head to hide her identity and got out of the car. Closing the door quietly, she ran across the street and hid behind the big dumpster. The warehouse was fenced with the nasty snarls of barbed wire at the top. Everything was locked up tight. She pulled a small pair of bolt cutters out of her backpack and started to cut through the fencing.
Roxy was expecting to be met by the dogs when she finally cut through the last part and pulled it back so she could slip through, but they didn’t come. The noise was just enough to draw attention, even more so when she let out a small cry when the fence pierced through her back and dug into her flesh.

Hey hun, I just wanted you to know that my comment last time didn’t in any reflect on your skill as a writer. Hell, I know plenty of people who’ve stayed in abusive relationships (not that I’m saying this one is…well, maybe borderline emotionally) and you’re writing it well. And over the top isn’t meant to be an insult, you’d be a great drama writer for TV. All your chapters are very episodic, which is totally a compliment. Anyway, love this one and happy almost two years writing!
Great chapter!! All I can say is where the hell is Alice? Dana must have really struck a nerve!! I can’t say I blame her though because Alice didn’t deny anything she said. I hope she comes back so they can kiss and make up. Can’t wait for the halloween/anniversary edition.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, Roxy got bitten by a dog. I know for a fact that it hurts like hell. This chapter was full of drama and I love drama:-)) But I’m not a drama queen, lol. Alice’s exit was very dramatic when I stay on topic here. But it was the right decision to do so and I’m glad she followed through instead of having another long and exhausting conversation with Dana. If I were her I would act the same way. Leaving was exactly the best thing to do although it left Dana caught off guard, sad and speechless. That’s actually what I call a silent treatment. Where did Alice go though? To a striptease club to cheer herself up a bit? Guess, it wouldn’t be a great idea. Maybe she’s in one of Oprah Winfrey’s talk shows? Did she go to a psychologist to analyze her relationship with Dana? Or what would be even worse….she’s been kidnapped by Mr. Psycho and is being imprisoned in a dark, foul and sound proof basement with no possibility to escape. I wish I knew but I have no clue. Alice should take her time to think it all through considering what Roxy and Dana mean to her. She can’t trust both but she loves each woman differently and her feelings are beyond friendship when it comes to Roxy. This kinda scares me. Don’t want to think what might happen if Al chooses Roxy over Dana eventually. World War III. That’s what I see coming, lol. Hope it all works out at some point although I still believe (and yes, I’m repeating myself one more time) that Dana and Al should have a long break. You can kill me now, lol. I’m glad that the police didn’t find the drugs in Dana’s sports bag. Thanks to Kristen…she’ll get plus points for that, lol. Roxy must be very upset about it and now that she found out that Al’s missing she’ll be definitely trying to find her. Damn, Dana…get your ass in your car and search your woman! Can’t wait to see what you planned for your Halloween installment. Hope to see my favorite guy back:-)) And I don’t mean Tony, lol. This was an utterly kick-ass chapter. You never dissapoint, my dear. Just bring it on, lady. And by the way….the Red Sox suck!!!! No offense…but I had to say that, lol.
Therapy might work for Dana and Alice but they need time for that to work and they haven’t hardly anytime in almost two years to catch their breath with all the psychos coming after them. Hopefully Al is getting her head together and is not anywhere near David. pps
wow almost 2 years congratulations!! well done and every chapter has been better than the last ur a talent man good job!!!:) hmm where is alice im thinking motel her feelings were prob hurt, alone time for her perhaps? i hope so anyway poor dana she cant catch a break can she lol well as long as she has alice she’ll be fine another great chap cant wait for their halloween chap :)
