Matchmaker Alice challenge – I WILL SURVIVE

At hearing this Alice is beside herself.  Picking up her phone she tries to think of what to do.  Her first inclination is to call up Bette but if she’s wrong, there would be no end to the punishment Porter could dish out for this kind of grievance.

“Well I’m going to get back with you in a moment when this song is over if you wouldn’t mind holding on.” Alice sensed the woman wanted to talk.  “Give me a few minutes to clear off my board.  My producer is always piling things up there and I want to come back to you.  Are you game?”

The woman hesitates this, in all reality she doesn’t even know why she’s on the phone now but this Alice seems nice so she agrees.  “Yes I’ll hold on … but not for too long.”

“Great I’ll be right back.” And with that Alice  puts the woman back on hold.  Grabbing her cell as fast as she could Alice frantically types out a message.

Turn on my show I may be crazy but I think I have someone one the line who may be a person of interest.!!!!!  Send

Alice waited a second to make sure her messages went through Alice composes herself for a minute while the last strains of DREAM WEAVER play.  Returning to the caller. “Sorry for the craziness here but I appreciate you hanging on the line.  I think I’ve got it all squared away and we’ll be back on the air now.”

Alice hits the on air button.  “We are back.  For all you lovelies out there listening this is your host Alice P making my way to you on this fabulous Friday night.  On the line we have a caller who was just telling me about her days back east in Philly. So tell me how does Gloria Gaynor make you think of sunny days in Philly?”

“Well it’s more the song I WILL SURVIVE.  It’s a song that makes me think of a life I walked away from for sure but more importantly the best parts of that life.”

“My that seems a little cryptic are you trying to say you lived two lives?”

    1. BRAVO Jwet! Wow, what a most creative, different and enjoyable Alice matchmaker story! The power that music and song has in connecting us to one another as well as evoking strong memories and feelings is truly an amazing thing. Okay, and being a musician I’m a total sucker for pretty much all the songs you mentioned too :) I almost didn’t read this one.. so glad I did. And I’m actually good with you leaving the story where you did. It’s nice sometimes to let ones own imagination fill in the “rest of the story” instead of always having it spelled out. Thank you for sharing your story. Very heart-warming!

    2. Wow Jwet!! This is amazing! :-D superb!! Uhm.. will there be any continuation (which would thrilled me!) or you’ll let our imagination take over?! :-/ … ;-p lol! Thanks for this wonderful story :-)
