    Melvin, Bette, Tina and Kit

“It was a little awkward at first, but overall we had a nice meal. Daddy and Benjamin did most of the talking about his Power of Everything philosophy. They really seem to hit it off.”

    “That’s nice for Kit.”

“Yeah it was nice, but we had to cut the evening short. Daddy wasn’t feeling well. He had a really bad cough and had to excuse himself to the bathroom. When he came back he said he wanted to go to his room.”

    “Is he Okay?”

“I don’t know Tee. He says he’s fine but to tell you the truth I’m a little worried.”

“Maybe he’s just coming down with a cold or allergies or something.”

“It’s not just the cough. He seems fragile somehow and yesterday he got disoriented and started wandering the halls at the CAC.”

“Maybe he should see a doctor while he’s here?” Tina suggested.

“He’s so stubborn I doubt he would admit that anything was wrong. I’ll just keep an eye on him. Anyway, I’m really sorry I can’t meet you. I’d love to see you.”

“Me too, but you’re coming tonight aren’t you? Helena told me that she invited you.”

“I wouldn’t miss it Tee. I already told Daddy that I had to get back early to get ready.”

“You’ve got to see this ridiculously overpriced dress that she’s making me wear. The center could
feed a family of five two meals a day each for a year for what it costs.”

“That doesn’t sound like you Tee.”

“It’s not. I argued with her but it just wasn’t worth the fight. I have to admit it is beautiful, and I look damn good in it.” Tina joked.

“I’m sure you do. I can’t wait to see you in it.” Bette responded. It was just as bizarre for Bette to be having this conversation about Helena with Tina as it had been for Tina to be having the conversation about Melvin with Bette. As painful as the breakup was for both, they had an unshakable bond when it came to being supportive of each other.

“I’m sorry I didn’t think to invite you myself, but I’m surprised you accepted with Helena there too. I know you can barely stand to be in the same room with her.”

    1. Hey BAT2012, i didn’t comment on the previous chapters, but i still read and enjoy this story.

I look forward how you are gonna try to change Melvin. I believe he really loves Bette, but is one big emotional handicapt man and very set in his opinions and views.

It is good to see Bette and Tina are able to support each other and hopefully they will find a way back to a healthy, strong and loving relationship.

Bette is right about Helena “fucking ” Peabody and i look forward to the moment Bette will kick her ass. Bette deals with her in a way that i admire.

      Thanks for the update!

    2. Aww, Melvin just ruined my morning by being his usual overly grumpy a**hole self, just mean and hateful. I can hardly wait to see how you can make a positive change in Melvin, that will be a bloody miracle. Bette was very right in what she said to Kit, about melvin liking benjamin or the idea of him before even meeting him; that he wouldn’t think anything was wrong with her being with a married man because of his own ideas about the subject. Thanks for posting.
