    NEW YORK MINUTE

    CHAPTER 89

Tina arrived at her parents house not long after 10am. After the high emotion of the reunion it had taken Tina a few days to get in touch with her parents again. She mainly spoke to her mom and they did seem to be doing well. Tina knew that her parents were not that well off so when they had started to discuss meeting up again it had been her suggestion that she come to see them. She had taken Bette’s car from its usual home of the long stay garage and had set off after making sure that Angie was out of bed and eating her breakfast. Bette was going to take Angie to school and would go and get her after school if Tina wasn’t back. Tina felt that she needed to spend some time just talking to her mom – just quiet  – nothing too dramatic – just connecting again.

When Tina knocked at the door her mom greeted her and was soon joined by the dog who raced out to say hello to Tina. Tina had been prepared for the dog by Bette and she quickly took the dog biscuits from her jacket and gave him a small handful. Her mother laughed

“That is one sure fire way to make him your friend for life – come in sweetie “

Tina went inside and looked around. The house looked different to the house she had grown up in in Cedar Falls but she recognised a lot of the furniture and the pictures and her father’s bowling trophies.

    “Have you eaten ?”

    “I had cereal around 7:30 “

“Would you like something else ?”

    “No – I am fine “

“I made us some cakes for later “

    “Thanks “

    “Coffee ?”

    “Please “

Her mother was half way to the kitchen and turned and looked at Tina who was sitting stroking the dog who was trying to figure out if the biscuits were a one off or not.

“Tommy – leave her alone boy “

“Its okay – I like dogs and I do have more biscuits in my jacket “

“Well don’t feed him too many “

    “Okay “

Mary headed into the kitchen but came back after a few seconds
