Not Just an Addiction – Chapter 7

“So, you’re not normally into skinny-dipping, eh?” Alice asked, trying to keep her eyes trained above the water so as not to get distracted by the shimmering reflection of Lara’s naked body under the surface.

“No, but Shane’s awfully good at the peer-pressure,” Lara responded, still smiling.  “So are you,” she added lowly, giving Alice a flirtatious look.

“Hey, that’s what I’m here for,” Alice replied lightly, trying to ignore the electricity she felt growing between them.  “I’ve also got some crack in the car if you want it.”  This drew genuine laughter from Lara, which thrilled Alice even more.  She loved the fact that she could elicit Lara’s easygoing laugh so easily.

“No, there is no way that is a cover of The Beatles!” Jenny proclaimed loudly from the other side of the pool.  “The Beatles never did that song.”

“Yes, they did!  You just can’t admit that my musical knowledge is far superior to yours,” Shane answered, giving Jenny a devilish grin and splashing her face with water.

“Shane, I hate to tell you this, but you are completely, utterly wrong about this one,” Jenny responded indignantly.

“Ok, I’ll prove it,” Shane said, pulling herself out of the pool in one smooth movement.  “I think Tina has The White Album in her collection, so we can check if the song I’m talking about is on it.  Come on, I’ll show you who is the biggest music geek in the world.”  She grabbed her shirt and threw it on as she waved Jenny inside with her.

“Fine, but you’re going to owe me a beer when we prove that you’re wrong,” Jenny said, jumping out of the pool, wrapping herself in a towel, and following Shane inside through the patio doors.

Alice and Lara watched this animated exchange from across the pool in silence.  Then they looked at each other, as the realisation that they were alone for the second time that evening dawned on each of them.  Except this time they didn’t have the protection of clothing between them.

Lara was almost painfully aware of Alice’s proximity; she felt as though her entire body were taut with the tension generated by weeks of constant back-and-forth between them.  She wanted release, and she didn’t want to talk about it first.  Slowly, she inched toward Alice, keeping silent eye contact with the blonde as she moved.

    1. ah, there you are again! Great update. I think the thing I like most about your writing is how you take the characters we know and flesh them out, in the context we know from the show. Without having any external angst, you manage to move the characters along nicely, which is a nice alternative to the standard fare! Again, your dialogue, pace and tension are spot on. Thanks for continuing the story….as you surely know by now, I’ll be reading as long as you post!

    2. Happy dance! Love the update because I must admit I’ve been checking. As always, your pacing and tension (gawd! but it’s so well done!) and truth to the characters as we know them makes for excellent reading. Of course, I am looking forward to ‘the talk’ and hope nothing interrupts them–but if it did you’d be handling it in a realistic way so carry on with how your creativity is taking you. When is Showtime hiring you as Chief Lace Storyline Specialist?

    3. yay, awesome job yet again and i agree with Min, they should hands down hire you to write all of the Lace action! :)You capture their characters down to the spot!

    4. I have been waiting for this for ages… and I guess I’ll accept some of the blame if you put another chapter up quickly! Haha I wont write anymore fics so you dont get distracted :P I’m seriously hooked.

    5. As usual, I love it. The tension makes me want to take a spatula to my eye, but other than that I’m doing just fine. That was my favorite chapter yet! Keep up the awesome work. No pressure ;)

    6. I just read all 7 chapters! I really like the way you describe the feelings from Lara’s and Alice’s perspective. It’s very well written! Btw, you’re a real tease…every time they get close, someone interrupts (very very frustrating ;) ).
