Not Just an Addiction – Chapter 7
On the one hand, she was certainly getting the impression that Lara felt something more for her, given her behaviour over the past few days. She’d have to be a complete idiot not to understand that Lara wanted her. But, on the other hand, Alice thought glumly, maybe all Lara wanted was a quickie before she left for Paris. Lara had said nothing about changing her plans to attend her chef’s course, so Alice had to maintain her assumption that Lara was leaving in a week.
“Scratch that,” Alice said aloud, looking at her clock and noticing that the time was 12:30a.m. There were now officially only six days until Lara left.
The truth was, Alice didn’t know whether Lara was actually serious about their relationship, or whether she just saw Alice as a pleasurable, if temporary, distraction. If she revealed all her feelings to Lara and those feelings weren’t returned, Lara could easily break Alice’s heart. Worse still, she could run to the other side of the world to escape from her.
Alice thought back to her nightmare the previous night about Lara falling off the edge of a cliff. Although she knew it was just a ridiculous dream, the feeling of losing Lara forever had persisted throughout the day, intruding into her reality and never letting her forget that Lara was leaving soon. Even if she wanted to, she simply couldn’t ignore the fact that Lara might abandon her, like so many people had done before in her life. Alice’s deepest insecurities were being tested, and that was driving her almost as crazy as her confusion over her feelings for Lara. She knew she would ultimately have to decide whether being honest with Lara was worth the risk of losing her.
Alice groaned in frustration, and looked at the clock again. 12:31a.m. It was going to be a long night.
***
“Beeeeeeeeeep!” a car honked loudly as it tore by Lara’s car on the freeway, startling the redhead out of her daydreams. She tried to snap her attention back to the road ahead, but her mind rebelliously rebounded back to the topic that had ruled her thoughts all day and the previous night: her looming conversation with Alice. Although the two women hadn’t made any specific plans to meet up, Lara knew that they needed to have a serious discussion today, one that wouldn’t be interrupted and that would clarify things between them once and for all.

ah, there you are again! Great update. I think the thing I like most about your writing is how you take the characters we know and flesh them out, in the context we know from the show. Without having any external angst, you manage to move the characters along nicely, which is a nice alternative to the standard fare! Again, your dialogue, pace and tension are spot on. Thanks for continuing the story….as you surely know by now, I’ll be reading as long as you post!
Happy dance! Love the update because I must admit I’ve been checking. As always, your pacing and tension (gawd! but it’s so well done!) and truth to the characters as we know them makes for excellent reading. Of course, I am looking forward to ‘the talk’ and hope nothing interrupts them–but if it did you’d be handling it in a realistic way so carry on with how your creativity is taking you. When is Showtime hiring you as Chief Lace Storyline Specialist?
yay, awesome job yet again and i agree with Min, they should hands down hire you to write all of the Lace action! :)You capture their characters down to the spot!
I have been waiting for this for ages… and I guess I’ll accept some of the blame if you put another chapter up quickly! Haha I wont write anymore fics so you dont get distracted :P I’m seriously hooked.
As usual, I love it. The tension makes me want to take a spatula to my eye, but other than that I’m doing just fine. That was my favorite chapter yet! Keep up the awesome work. No pressure ;)
Okay, I haven’t read this, but who the hell gave it a 1 star? =/
yay i am firsti like the story so far really good read
Great update! I can’t wait till the talk with Alice!
cool I can’t wait to see what happens next with them please post soon I love it
I just read all 7 chapters! I really like the way you describe the feelings from Lara’s and Alice’s perspective. It’s very well written! Btw, you’re a real tease…every time they get close, someone interrupts (very very frustrating ;) ).
