Old Friends Chapter 24
Alex had spent much of the night sitting on the balcony of her hotel room. She went through a bottle of wine and much of the music collection stored on her laptop. Alex had always balked at having a laptop until she actually got one. Now, she could not live without it and carried a top of the line model. There were many places Alex went that did not have regular access to Alexs music. The fact that she could take it with her so conveniently was one of the major selling points in getting a laptop.
It was not lost of Alex that she was spending most of the night wallowing in self pity. Quite frankly, she didnt give a damn. Talking with Bette and Tina had forced her to feel her wounds even more intently than usual.
Bette and Tina passionately kissed goodbye as they headed out for their day. Bette was picking up Dana ostensibly to apply for a cleaning job at the CAC as part of her vow to take a low wage manual labor job. In reality, Dana was going to the gym to work out for a couple of hours. Tina was going into the center for a couple of hours to review some documents with Oscar. After that, she planned to meet up with Bette.
When Bette arrived at Danas apartment, there was tension thicker than the fog on a spring Nova Scotia night. She made sure to lecture Dana about the stupidity of what she was doing before they left the presence of Tonya. On the way to the gym, Dana told Bette of the acting job which she had pulled off during the night.
Alice was waiting at the gym. She was going to be Danas spotter, in theory. In reality, they just wanted to spend some time together.
As for Shane, she went to the Planet for a caffeine shot before going in to work. It had been an unusual night for her, the DJ on whom she had set her sights had talked and flirted throughout the evening. When the time came, however, she informed Shane that one night stands were not her thing. Shane, to her own disbelief, found herself agreeing to return to the club that night to spend time with this woman in a platonic way.

Finally, the truth will set her free. I’m glad she was able to open up, now maybe she’ll be able to work on the guilt to the point where she will no longer need to medicate herself. Thanks for sharing, and I’m looking forward to how Bette can be the supporting friend Alex deserves.
What a secret to carry around. Poor Alex. Thanks for putting Bette and Tina back together. I hope you let them put Alex back together.
