    Old Friends Chapter 26

Bette and Tina had not left Alexs hotel room. They made themselves comfortable in each others arms as they laid on her couch utilizing Alexs music collection. Going through Alexs music file, Bette found a couple of songs to point out to Tina.

I see she has her theme song on here.

    Theme song?

Yeah, Alex and I were on the phone one night and she had some TV show on mute with the closed caption. They were talking about how everyone should have a theme song. Alex was reading this while I took a call on the other line. This led to a discussion of what our theme songs should be.

Really. And what did you say? Tina inquired.

I told her Id have to think about it. Alex said that her theme was Springsteens Born to Run.

That sounds like Alex. Tina agreed. Did she have a song for you.

Naturally, you know, Alex. She always has something.

What was it? Tina asked with a chuckle.

Let me see if she has it on here. Bette said as she searched the laptop. She emailed a copy to me, but I lost it when my last laptop died.

Why didnt you tell me about this? Tina asked, a bit hurt at how much Bette never shared.

I didnt think much of it. I forgot about it after we got off the phone. I guess, like usual, I was too busy with things that werent very important.

Is it a song I would recognize? Tina asked, curious, while Bette searched the files.

Probably not, you know Alex. Shes got odd tastes in music. Actually, thats not true. Ive never met anyone with more eclectic tastes. I dont think there is any type of music she doesnt like.

Except country music. Tina reminded Bette.

So she says, but I know she does like some of it. I remember her talking about seeing Mary Chapin Carpenter performing in DC before she made it big.

Im surprised you know who Mary Chapin Carpenter is. Tina laughed.

Alex sends me music files from time to time. Shes funny though, she has a habit of discovering stuff ten years too late.
