Kit watched the exchange with a smile, fanning herself with the intensity surrounding the couple. “You two are so hot together. Two pretty pink flamingos in love”

The girls laughed as they pulled apart, their cheeks flushed with desire.

Kit took that as her cue to find another place to hang out and tiptoed to be able to look over the large crowd, her eyes scanning the overpopulated bar.

“Have either of you seen my baby sis tonight?”

Shane shook her head, “No but do you want-oh look, there she is”

Kit whipped around to look in the direction that Shane jutted her chin and through the small breaks in the crowd was able to make out Bette’s form. The brunette certainly had outdid herself with her costume and makeup as did Emma, all eyes were certainly on them. They were surrounded by a bunch of people Kit didn’t recognize, engaged in what appeared to be a humorous conversation. It was just too bad Bette had never looked more miserable.

“Should we help her out?” Shane asked after having noticed the same desperate look on the brunette’s face.

The three of them watched as another group of four women approached the group containing Bette and Emma, looking on as the women screamed the moment they made eye contact with the redhead before running to practically tackle her. They spoke so loud they could be heard over the booming music, their hand gestures just as animated as whatever it was they were babbling about. All the while Bette took a big swig of her drink, a tortured expression claiming her features.

“Normally, I would say yes” Kit said as she continued to watch the very enthusiastic conversation. “But that New York crowd is on a different level. Bette’s been dealing with them for a while. I’m sure she can handle it”

Shane nodded feeling grateful for Kit’s answer. She hadn’t been anywhere prepared to deal with such a group. A few of them were still screaming.

They watched for another few moments in silence before Carmen spoke up, “Let’s go get a drink .. and take a shot in Bette’s honor”

Kit nodded, “She’s gonna need it”
