A slap to her abdomen was the only thing that jump-started her back into motion, the act a courtesy of Carmen.

“Great story” The Latina smiled as she held up her drink to the woman across from her. She looked to Shane, “Right babe?”

Shane pressed her lips together in something that resembled a smile and with a single nod brought her drink to her lips, opting to sip the bitter liquid than verbally offer a response.

The woman looked from Shane to Carmen then back to Shane, “So are you guys like together, together or like does Shane-”

“We’re together” Shane immediately cut in and slipped an arm around Carmen’s waist, a smirk instantly tugging at her lips when she felt the Latina shiver at her touch.

Her words must not have registered right away with Carmen because it took a moment before she looked to the brunette with surprise, a beautiful smile gracing her flawless face.

“We are?”

Shane didn’t miss a beat, feeling as confident as ever. “Well, yeah. What, you thought all those dates were just to pass the time? I’ve wanted you since high school and now that I have you, I’m not about to let you go”

Carmen melted, the smile on her face widening with Shane’s sweet words. She turned to face the brunette, the woman they had been talking to now unimportant.

“Good answer” She whispered breathlessly and wrapped her arms around Shane’s neck.

“I thought you would like that” Shane teased with a sexy smirk as she lowered her head for a sweet kiss.

At that moment Kit had finally achieved success in squeezing passed a group of people, bursting from between them like a cartoon character and barreling into the couple before their lips could touch.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry” She rushed out as she hurried to grab and steady the couple without even realizing who she had crashed into. She held onto an arm of each woman as she met their eyes and let out an excited squeal before pulling them into a warm hug.

Shane chuckled, “Hey Kit”

“Nice bumping into you” Carmen laughed as she rubbed the older Porter’s back affectionately.

“I didn’t think I’d see you or any other familiar faces tonight” Kit gave them one last squeeze before pulling back to adjust her costume, “This place is a madhouse. I thought Emma was trying to keep things lowkey”
