“Actually we have” The blonde replied confidently.

After placing their orders, the waitress hurriedly left the table so they were finally left alone again. Both women were silent but sharing intense eye contact.

“So… girlfriend uh…” Bette gently said, sensing this may be a touchy subject to approach. It was too soon to be speaking in those terms, but then again, the chef considered that the situation required it or otherwise they would be left with a huge elephant in the room.

“Sorry…” Tina simply said, afraid that she might have spoilt their night.

“Don’t… don’t apologize please” Bette said smiling brightly, for she didn’t want Tina to think that she could be in any way scared or uncomfortable with that word. She actually loved how the blonde instantly reacted to that situation, because it allowed her to see how Tina truly felt.

“I just don’t want to push… whatever this is” Tina addmited.

“You are not, you just came to my rescue there… so thank you” Bette said still smiling.

“Right” Tina quickly replied also smiling. The blonde knew that Bette wasn’t being entirely honest with her, that perhaps she had detected how jealous she felt in that situation. But Tina also felt thankful to the brunette for giving her the easy way out. They would surely have plenty of time to adress their feelings and what they meant to one another.

“So” They both said at same time and soflty laughed. Soon the conversation regained its flow and they were back at talking about everything, from personal experiences to every day routines.

Before they knew it the wine had arrive and then the food did.

“Wow…” Was all Tina muttered after tasting the first bite.

“Definitely the best in town” Bette agreed.

Once their main course was finished and Tina was honestly laughing at Bette’s version of the practical joke her friends had pulled on her earlier that week, they were approached by a short man carrying another plate on his hands.

“Well, it is such an honor to have you here” He said the second the brunette lifted her eyes.

“Hiroyuki!” Bette happily said and gently rose from her seat in order to give the man a big hug.

After they were done the brunette quickly introduced him to Tina. “Hiroyuki this is Tina Kennard… Tina this is Hiroyuki Urasawa… He is the face behind the truly amazing food we just had” The brunette sincerely said as the man was shaking Tina’s hand.
