“Here…” Helena handed her bulky envelope filled with crispy hundred-dollar bills. “If I were you, however, I’d spend it as soon as you can because where you’re going, you won’t be able to use it.”

“I still haven’t agree to that until I know you are telling the truth,” Candace protested meekly.

Helena looked up and down at her partner in crime, noticing ever-present overalls, her hands marred by the hard labor and slightly disheveled hair. “Believe me, I know what I’m talking about and you will feel right at home in the past. I, on the other hand, not so much. No bathrooms, restaurants, credit cards, or spas…no luxury whatsoever…forget about it. It will be you, going back in time and…speaking of sweet rewards you are so fond of…you’ll be going back with your beloved Bette Porter.”

Candace smirked at that thought and looked at Helena, “Are you hundred percent sure that shit about time travel is real and they didn’t do it on purpose to mess with you?”

Helena laughed, “Oh darling, nobody messes with me. I am not some gullible twit that lets anyone deceive me. I am Helena fucking Peabody. Those fools had no idea I was there, listening to their every word. And I was there all night, watching and listening.”

“By the way, you never told me why exactly you were there after you were kicked out.”

“Not that it’s any of your business but I wanted to make sure that insufferable Alice won’t call the police to blame me for whatever happened to Tina,” Helena shrugged. “Not that she would be able to proof anything because I was careful…but I don’t need any sort of legal trouble right now so I stayed and waited. This is when Bette appeared out of thin air. She just showed up in the kitchen and I know for a fact that she didn’t come from the outside…so where did she come from?”

Candace shrugged, not really caring one way or the other.

“And they talked about time travel portal and going back to the 18th century and how it seals itself after one more jump,” Helena looked at Candace again. “So here’s the plan A. I don’t know where that portal is or when it opens or what Bette and Tina’s plans are. Your crew is still working on the latest exhibit installation?”
