    “Bette?”

    I sit quietly at the dinning room table on my laptop when I hear Rachel’s voice.

    “In here!” I call back.

    She appears from the corner with a smile.

    “Got off a little earlier than expected.”

    “That’s great.” I smile.

    “Mind if I take a shower here?”

    “Only if you let me join you?”

    “That would be up to you.”

    “Go start the shower and I’ll be right there.” I say with a smile.

    I close the laptop and then pick up my phone that lays beside it.

    My thoughts shoot to Tina.

    “Hey, T. Rachel got off work early, I won’t be by tonight.” I send the text and place my phone back down.

    I take a moment before I join Rachel.

    I hear Kit’s voice in the back of my mind. I fight to believe she is wrong but something pulls me towards her being right. I try to shake the thought of her words becoming the truth. I make myself believe it’s just a phase.

    I receive Bette’s text as I relax on the patio chair watching the kids playing around in the backyard.

    “Cole no throwing mud at your sister.” I yell in a soft voice and end it with a chuckle.

    I reach for my mug of coffee that sits in front of me on the patio table.

    My mind thinks of Bette and the laughs we shared as we chat until midnight, it felt like when we would stay up late at night in our bed chatting until one of us fell asleep in each others arms.

    I try to erase the memory by pulling out my phone again. I delete Bette’s messages and open Danielle’s.

    “Can you drop by tonight? I’d like to talk.”

    I press send and place my phone back down.

    “Bette?”

    “Yes, James?” I answer him while I scatter through papers that lay upon me.

    “Tina is here.”

    I look up to see her stepping through the door.

    “James, hold my calls for now.”

    “You got it.” He says closing the door behind him.

    6. As I said early on that danielle is not to be trusted. What kind of fool is she thinking Tina will give up a career that she has been working on for several years and that she is happy with. Also agree with everyone else, she is just trying to get Tina away from Bette, knowing full well that she could never earn enough money to make up for the loss of Tina’s executive salary. The woman is a damned fool. And her question to Bette, “whatcha doing here” proves that point. Bette should have told her it is none of her business, and kept walking. Very surprised that Bette even talked to her. Tina should not even consider that request to move at all, she has way too much to lose. Besides which, she still is not sure how she feels about Danielle. What Tina has not really felt well about her is that she does not “trust” her. One just doesn’t move away from everyone and everything familiar and her career just to satisfy the whims of a fool. I can just imagine what Bette says about this. Hope Tina realizes this move is not for her or her children. If this fool is really trying to improve herself then she should walk away and go on to SD and find someone else. That request from her is just really stupid .
