”Hello baby sis-ta” Kit says approaching me followed behind Shane. ”And hello Rachel honey.”
I smile and look towards the rest of the crowd.
”Hello Kit.” Rachel responds.
”Cole and I are going to go over there with the rest, ok Mama B?”
”Go right ahead.” I nod. ”Is everyone here?” I say looking around again.
”Everyone but Tina and Danielle.” Shane says.
”I think I am going to grab a drink, want anything Bette?” Rachel says looking at me while touching my arm.
”Surprise me.” I smile.
”I’ll come with you, I can do for a refill.” Shane says.
”So how is everything?” Kit asks me.
”Are you implying me and Tina again?”
”You know exactly why I am asking.”
”We talked. Got it off the plate.
Everything isn’t clear yet but it will be.” I pause. ”I do know that her and Danielle aren’t the greatest.”
”Has she told you?”
”Danielle is putting all her attention on other things.”
”You do know that this is her fight right? It isn’t yours.”
”What are you saying?”
”I’m saying you put yourself into other people’s business too much.”
”I know what I am doing. I do not need to be told from you what I should and shouldn’t be doing.”
”Alright, fine.” Kit says.
”Why did you follow me here?” I ask looking at Shane as we look at the drink menu together.
”I need to know that you haven’t thought about saying anything to Bette.”
”I don’t know what I am going to do yet.”
”Listen, Bette doesn’t need this.” I hear the begging in Shane’s voice once again.
”I don’t need this on my conscious either.”
”Let us both forget about this, your conscious will stop once we forget everything.”
The party continues with everyone still gathered around in separate groups laughing and drinking.
”Where is she?” My mind asks itself. My eyes travel around the room more until I quickly glance at the entrance.
She carries herself hopelessly and my bodies first response is to drop everything I am doing and make my way towards her.
Her eyes look through mine and I get no response.
”T, what is the matter?”
”I’m going to get a drink, I’ll be back.”
