Quirks
”That’s not a quirk, that’s a speech pattern.” Alice remarked with an eye roll. ”What else you got?” She asked, holding her hot coffee in both hands.
I sighed again. ”She talks to herself.”
”Like a crazy person?”
”No! Not like a crazy person, Alice.” I defended my fair lady’s honor. ”It’s more subtle than that. She answers her rhetorical questions.” I saw the blank look on Alice’s face and knew that she needed an example. ”Okay, like when she’s thinking out loud, she’ll say something like, ’Did I turn off the iron? Yeah, I totally did.’”
”Answers her own questions? Hardly a quirk.”
”She does this thing with her feet when we’re in bed…”
”Ok, maybe this was a bad idea.” Alice conceded.
”No, wait, let me finish,” I insisted. ”Before she falls asleep, I know when her feet are cold, because she rubs one on top of the other five times before doing the same with the other five times.”
”Now that just sounds a little OCD.” Alice quipped.
”Hey, you wanted to know.”
”You’re right, I did.” We both sipped our coffee before she looked at me pointedly. ”Anything else?”
I smiled sheepishly. ”Yes.”
”Lay it on me.”
”She does this little eye roll thing when she tastes something really delicious.”
”Like you?”
As I began to agree, Alice’s off-the-cuff question gave me pause to digest it. ”Wait, what?”
”Like when she’s going down on you, she does the eye rolling thing?”
I pulled a face before I answered. ”Alice. When we’re out to dinner and she tastes her meal for the first time.” I said sternly.
”Alright, alright,” she said, her hands up in resignation. ”I thought maybe you were talking about…”
”I wasn’t.”
”Okay.”
Bringing my attention back to thoughts of my gorgeous girlfriend, I breathed deeply. ”She can’t wink.”
Alice furrowed her brow. ”What do you mean she can’t wink?”
”I mean she can’t wink. She tries. She tries hard, but she just can’t shut one eye without the other closely following suit.”
”Sounds like she may have a mild form of Tourettes.”
I glared at my friend. This was not a conversation I wanted to have, and yet, there I was having been cajoled into answering questions that I knew my ex really did not want to know; finding any reason to discount the little things Tina did that made me fall for her so quickly.

HAHA, me too, Skunk. It’s definitely a Bette-Alice type discussion. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the site with the greatest writers
Fanfic the planet.
Adorable as Bette describes the peculiarities
Tina that made her fall in love with her, too
beautiful.
Do not stop writing this story.
5 stars.
Hey mscully! I appreciate your enthusiasm. This was just a little one-off but hopefully I will have more stories for you in the future for you to enjoy! Thanks for reading!
I adore this. Glad to have the opportunity to read it again. Thank you meloveslu.
Ally! So good to hear from you again! When can we expect a new story from you, my dear?
Nice like it
have to agree with Bette…seeing Tina tried so hard to wink was adorable… :-D
Super cute. It made me wonder if that’s the way Laurel winks in real life or if she really was just acting.
hahahaha…I was wondering myself… :-D
Simply adorable, thank you !!
I just love this so simple yet miraculous way one never can say why they fall in love with someone – it’s just it, something magic, impossible to explain to others and even to ourselves…
Now, thinking about the way I would answer to the “why” I love my own one true love, I also see her way to smile, to react, those little gestures, her way to express things… but the mystery of it would remain !
All I can think about, as I always did, is the famous quote of Montaigne about his friendship with La Boetie – but I only know it in french : “Parce que c’était lui, parce que c’était moi”. Period ! :-)
Thanks for dusting off this old, fluffy little tale. Glad you enjoyed it!!
