Real Tibette – Thanksgiving 2023
‘What?’ Tina said. ‘What did I say?’
When Angie recovered herself, she turned to face the lake.
‘Okay,’ she said, still giggling, ‘okay, so there’s sexual attraction – that’s like you and Mom and your generation, like that’s the language you have. But then there’s also aesthetic attraction, and demisexuality, autoromanticism, lust, objective physical, subjective physical, squish, queerplatonic, protective . . .’ Angie stopped and smiled. ‘You’re glazing over.’
Tina laughed. ‘No,’ she said, ‘I’m not, sweetheart, I’m just listening.’
She linked her arm with Angie’s again, leaning her head against her. Every day a school day indeed.

Ben was right. Pat was in Sasha’s bed, along with a pair of drumsticks, a single blue sock, a tattered copy of The Gruffalo and an almost empty packet of Goldbears.
‘Want one?’ asked Ben, chewing.
Bette declined. She ran her flashlight over the kids’ room, not sure what she expected to see, but unable, quite, to just leave again.
‘What’s wrong?’ Ben asked.
‘Nothing.’
‘Yeah, right.’
Bette looked at her son as he rooted for the last few sweets, a blue plushy octopus clamped under his arm. His fearlessness terrifying.
‘We should get going,’ she said.
‘Okay.’ Ben shoved the empty sweet packet into his pocket.
‘Anything else you need from here?’
‘Nope.’ They started making their way downstairs. ‘We’re coming back here tomorrow, right?’
‘Mhmm.’
‘Are we staying tomorrow night or does that depend on the coon guy?’
‘Depends more on the electric guy.’ A beat. ‘Unless of course everyone just hates this place now and can’t wait to, y’know, see the back of it.’
At the bottom of the stairs, Ben turned and looked at Bette. ‘Who says we hate it?’
Bette took a long, slow inhale of cold, dank air. It smelled of soot and old paper and neglect. Tears tingled the back of her nose.
‘I just . . .’ she began. ‘I have some feelings.’ She paused to control herself. ‘They don’t completely make sense.’
Ben watched her, his eyes curious, but calm.
Bette looked around the living room. At the coffee table strewn with magazines and gathered leaves and Graham crackers and flecks of ash and splinters of wood. At the hand-crocheted blankets, always so neatly folded and draped over the lumpy sofas, now left bundled on the floor. The cold, empty fireplace like a black mouth howling in its abandonment.

Totally AGREE w/these comments. NOT surprised that the REAL Tibette fam is adorably caotic as evah!!!
After u’ve calmed down from from the Holloman exhibit maybe there’s a chapter wth yall meeting up wth the Kennard-Porters . . .
Hi Dumplin!
Yes, I’m enjoying the family growing up – working out what the kids are into and how having Alice in NY affects things. There’s a lot of moving parts. Thanks for taking the time to read it and comment. Means a lot.
Take care
Largo
Largo,
I correct the previous comment . . . DISagree that U have been “arrogant” by calling this masterpiece as “REAL”. Pfff! It certainly I S that!!!
Authors on this site have enraptured us with exquisite insight in filling gaps that were not revealed in TLW nor GenQ.
BaddAss Writers U r!!!!
hahaha, you are the best, Dumplin :-)
The gaps…. the gaps, oh the gaps!
I’m so pleased you enjoy what i enjoy writing. It makes it all worthwhile.

This was so needed, missed & delicious to deavour.
Excellent writing as per your usual postings.
Tibette has so perfectly fit themselves into each other & draw such strength from one another.
And Angie, trying her hardest to find the right fit & balance in her life & love. Hopefully we’ll get to read in the not to distant future who she meets & really falls in love with.
Overall, a gem & this will join all your other endeavours as my all, time favorites.
Thanks for making our holidays a bit more grateful & joyful.
All my best.
Coll,
Aren’t we the blessed ones who get the healing nectar that comes from creative, humorous, nsightful literature??
Glad U spoke of he “joyfulness” that springs forth
Hey D,
Yes, we are very blessed. I deeply appreciate the efforts of all the writers on this site for giving of their time & creativity in imagining these wonderful stories.
We all need joy in our lives in any form.
Take care my friend.
Thank you for your lovely comments. It means so much to me that you enjoy this Tibette world. I like writing them as a solid team in, as you say, a big messy family, just filled with love and support. Everything we never, ever, saw on the show.
Thanks, friends
Largo
the Writers on this ABSOLUTELY prove that lesbian couples can have stable ‘ships and “double-you-over laughter in all the caotic happening that “framily members” bring
