“What about a soundbite, a hint of the art Charlotte is auctioning off… something… I stand to make a killing on a piece if I can get it to run the morning of your opening…”
“Enough to pay me back for the tickets you bought?”
“Please. You need me on that flight. You want me on that flight. You know you hate to fly, and Tina will already be on her way by the time we leave.”
“You do hate to fly Babe… you always hold my hand at takeoff and landings…”
“There will be no hand holding unless I get an exclusive on the opening tomorrow. Just sayin…”
“There will no hand holding either way…” Bette frowned.
“Incidentally, my photographer is in the car should you want a few photos…” Alice tried again.
“Alice!” Bette and Tina exclaimed together.
“What? It’s only fair. I can’t believe I have to ask when I am also running your spy mission…”
“First explain the second ticket you bought for a T. Williams. A coach ticket on the red eye tomorrow morning…”
“That is phase one, what we like to call: ‘Operation Scout Out’”
“No one calls it that…” Tina giggled, shaking her head.
“Explain”, Bette interrupted, her temper was running short. Tina would indulge Alice all day, it amused her to no end to engage in this type of banter with Alice, but Bette had a shorter fuse.
Tina put her hand on Bette’s thigh under the table, sensing the rising frustration.
“T. Williams is Tasha Williams. Remember that security guard I dated when Dana and I were on a break?”
“You weren’t on a break, but ok. Continue…”
Bette reached down to hold Tina’s hand, appreciating her closeness.
“It was a break. An approved break, I’ll have you know…” Alice started but saw the death stare Bette was sending her way… ”Ok, ok geez… we called her to see how to snare a stalker, how to trap a turd, how to ensnare an Eric… how to…”
“God. Stop…” Tina said, laughing despite herself. Bette looked less amused.
“It’s not funny Tee! She booked a $925 round trip ticket for Tasha on my card! A mall security guard, may I remind you… for fucks sake… and you two are acting like you just hired Nancy Drew!”

I really want to know the plan on how they are going to catch that bastard Eric! And how Jodi will be exposed as a fraught, she already is the talk in the art world.
What is it what Bette want to tell/share with Tina?
So many questions i want to see answered. I hope you are able to update soon.
You really have me at the edge of my seat with the plan for Chicago. Nicely done, always fading the paragraph or the scene with just a teaser to allude they talk about it and to build up the tension.
Like Bette I’m a little anxious about Tina’s safety.
Loved how Tina turned the tables and managed to help Bette and ease her workload. T + B complement each other so well.
Alice did good to point the right people of the press to Jody’s doings.

Despite Bette’s doubts, I believe Tina, Alice, Shane, Lara and Tasha with Bette’s help will have a good plan. They will also have some alternatives in the event some part does no work out. All they will need in the end is the phone number to the Chicago PD and our friend Eric will be unemployed. The only thing that will save Eric is if he behaves himself appropriately and that is not likely.
I like that Aaron is getting a little put out with Eric. Tina is producing even though she is at home and Eric is doing nothing.
Jodi is getting her just rewards as evidenced by her own misstatements and misdeeds. When to take credit for work that is not yours, sooner or later it will catch up with you. And the fact that Tina and Bette did not take revenge for the “Core Values” exhibit will not cause them any harm to their reputations and careers.
Great chapter…love the humor and the intimacy. And I love that Bette and Tina are working their relationship in a healthy stable fashion. Even the fact that Bette has asked for some alone time and it is being granted by Tina is a good thing for their relationship. Bette promises to tell Tina what’s on her mind later and I believe she will. Everyone needs a bit of alone time to process things.
