Tina reluctantly ended the kiss, wanting to make sure Bette understood what she was trying to say before she lost control, lost herself in her wife, her desire growing. “Here’s the thing, Baby… I want more for my professional life now too. If this movie is a hit, even a small one there could be a sequel. The author is a friend of mine, she will go where I go. I think its time to see if other studios would be interested in a female producer with an odd talent for picking good scripts…”
Bette squirmed. She sat back a little to look Tina in the eye. Deep chocolate eyes searched cornflower blue. She kissed the tip of Tina’s nose. “Is it the right time?” she asked quietly, tentatively. “You make more than me now. You support us while our Gallery is being launched…”
Tina kissed her deeply, loving her… knowing how difficult it was for Bette to admit she was worried about money. “Sweetheart, there will never be a perfect time. And this will take time to play out. The movie gets released in a month so nothing can happen for at least three months after that while the numbers come in. I will take that success and the sequel, and I will find a studio that supports and encourages women. It may not be the right time, but we will be together while we figure it out…” Her eyes were bright, excited. They searched Bette’s.
“Peggy Peabody” Bette said, suddenly more anxious. She wrung her hands.
“Yes, maybe”. Tina captured Bette’s hands, holding them close to her, reading her apprehension. She wrapped up the anxiety in her wife’s hands with calmness, stilling them, kissing her knuckles. “But you don’t have to worry about Helena or anyone else. Not Eric, hitting on me today or Helena or anyone. You know that right?”
“Yes. I do. Of course, I do. Charlotte LaVoie asked me out today” Bette blurted out. Not sure why she felt like now was the time to tell Tina except that the longer she went without saying something the more of a secret it felt like …and that made her uneasy. She squeezed Tina’s hands, worried.

I so agree with the other readers that You DEFINITELY have a wonderful way of explaining the word “intimacy”. I especially like how you’ve reminded us that it comes in levels and stages as our trust is released..

This comment cracked me up. I am finding it challenging writing the dialogue which is why you dont see me write multiple characters at once but I cant avoid it forever….
This is true intimacy….sharing of fears, dreams, memories and souls. This is really a hot chapter…..amazing that they made it through dinner… This is the Bette and Tina I imagined when the series finished 10 years ago. Actually this Bette and Tina are a bit more mature and closer in their relationship than they have ever been. Great writing….

this story answers so many questions that were left danglng in the show. B&T were really connected in season 6 and whewn B asked T to marry her we was like “Oh yeah baby, finally”!!!
Anyway, I loved that Bette confronted Tina how she (Tina) wasn’t trusting her to choose Tina over work. Bette really made monumental changes in how she approached her fears & insecurities. It was time for Tina to examine her responses too. And she did. She quickly apologised to Bette and sought forgiveness

Was just thinking about how marvelous it’s been to have your screenplay featuring our Tibette, and I’m really trying to imagine how you will fill in the blanks on Tina’s childhood. Will be interesting to learn whether or not Tee has siblings in your story and whether or not an Angelica is in the future.

Interesting idea Dumplin! I honestly didnt expect this story to go nine chapters but the words are still making their way to the page so I will keep writing. Tina is complicated, exploring her childhood and family might be a good segway to understanding her.
Out of curiousity, dont most stories on here have her with a sister?
Yes, so far Tina has had siblings. If I remember correctly, she had really cool sibs & fam in You Found Me by BnTinmyhead
