None of the girls liked Tonya, she was presumptuous egoistic and demanding, she tried to avoid Shane because of her humble origin, but she liked Carmen and Tina because of their economic status, always looking for a way to undermine their relationships with Shane and Bette, she was also interested on Bette, she found her very beautiful and attractive, of course, she didn’t like Alice, because of her influence on Dana and the feeling was mutual.

However Tonya wasn’t faithful to her girlfriend, she had some nightstands when Dana was busy or in a competition representing the university, to those events Alice was always her companion, but Dana was apparently ignorant of the infidelity; though all her friends knew, the athlete was hard to convince, not even Alice could persuade her because of her explosive reaction; indeed the tennis player hated thinking she had failed as a lesbian lover, and the worst, was to admit it to Alice.

Tonya could weave carefully and get the naïve Dana eating from her hand until possibly a future marriage, but her philandering way gave her away, especially with the person Dana less expected, Bette.

It was the time when Bette and Tina were living together in an apartment close to MIT, Bette and Tina knew they will choose different branches of biochemistry in graduate school, and work with different professors; being excellent students, the line of research mentors, that wanted them was long, and sometimes they were invited to go out of town with different research groups to check their work and make a better decision to where they want to do research; currently Tina has a scheduled leave for the next weekend and Bette will apparently stay in their apartment studying.

Tonya was aware of Tina’s schedule and was planning to make a visit to Bette, but her main mistakes were her presumption and her friend Gabby Deveaux.

Gabby was dating Alice for a while in an abusive relationship, so Alice broke with her, but Gabby was always after her, one day in a gay bar Alice and Shane were having some drinks while waiting for Carmen and Frankie, when Gabby approached her and was again rejected; as Gabby were in the bar, Tonya entered and started talking to her, Alice was curious and worry for Dana, she went to the bar for a drink when heard Gabby and Tonya talking.
