Louise: “do you have an idea where we are?”
Bette: “these creeks must be part of the Yellowstone River forks; we want to find the river because the road runs parallel to its course.”
Tina: “but we have to be careful, Don and his thugs can show up anytime.”
Louise: “I know, however, I believe they may be very behind us.”
Bette: “but they have the chopper.”
Tina: “it wasn’t in the farm the last night…, but perhaps by now they are using the chopper to search for us.”
Louise: “do you think they could see us while searching from the chopper?”
Bette: “yes, they could, that’s why we must try to hide in the day and sleep, and walk mainly in the night…, we can take turns to sleep, three hours, each of us, one of us sleeps and the other two watches over at the same time…”
At that moment they heard the roar of a helicopter on the sky; the girls instinctively hid in the scrubs and made silence until the chopper disappeared.
Bette: “now, you see my point, we have to ride carefully and in the shadows.”
Louise: “I agree…, but we can’t waste the whole day resting.”
Tina: “in daylight, we must walk in the wilderness or just rest, but we can’t walk in open field.”
Louise: “we can’t stop either.”
Bette: “look, I don’t think we are very far from the river, we may reach it in the morning but we have to stay hidden.”
The increasing noise of the helicopter’s engine, made the girls hide deeply in the forest.
Tina: “looks like we have to stay hidden until they leave.”
Bette: “yeah…, and better we cover ourselves with broken tree branches.”
Louise: “what are we going to do in the meantime?”
Bette: “we have to rest or sleep…, or maybe I can keep telling you the story when Tina and I were here during college.”
Louise: “okay…, that may help to reduce my stress.”
Once we cleaned ourselves and our wounds, we prepared the little camp, set a bonfire and use an empty can to warm some chocolate milk that we had in our backpacks, we ate cookies and nuts and set our only sleeping bag…
