    Only Jenny remained somewhat in between, still wavering about whether to help her former CI, or to let the law enforcement deal with her in the conventional way. But the conventional way always ended up with someone dead. “People,” she said just loud enough to capture their attention, “none of you are thinking rationally. I understand you’re feeling guilty,” she looked at Shane, “you like her,” and Carmen, then to Morris, “and you don’t. But have you considered what actual benefit her offer could bring? Does it hurt to test out?”

    Though she didn’t know what kind of offer they talked about, Tina swallowed nervously to see the others contemplate Jenny’s words, and she relaxed just for a little bit when they looked amongst themselves, having arrived at a consensus.

    “We’ll investigate the border patrol Jorge bribed and sold, then decide.” Morris fished out his phone to make the call.

    Tina leaned forward to print a kiss on the sweat soaked forehead, the solidity of its hot temperature was oddly comforting.

    It turned out that Bette had gathered a lot of Jorge’s secret associates over the years, even kept tabs on the ones Jorge had severed the ties with. This was the leverage she held, information, contacts, dirt and evidence that could destroy a lot more than just a cartel and patch up loopholes on a level that concerned national security.

    The blonde had wondered why these only came out at that specific time and point. If Bette had told them in the beginning, maybe the attack would be avoidable. Then it dawned on her. The brunette didn’t trust the feds, she would have been forced to testify against Jacob, then as soon as she got thrown out from witness protection, whatever street dogs Jacob got left on the outside would come after her, which seemed much more difficult to fight off than two hit girls in prison. So she held off till the Irish were convinced that she had been eliminated, Tina found people who would take her side, and carried to a position where she could negotiate.

      I don’t actually know how the agencies work in the US, I just looked them up in wikipedia and bullshitted a lot. Anything to bring the two back together, ya know?

      Shout out to Bibi, pikiangelica, dunn, wkm, tanishaa, lip, and all the other silent viewers. You’re the reason I keep writing. I’m thankful that you stuck with this story during the darkest time and bumpy roads lol. From now on, it’s gonna be a pretty smooth ride.

    5. Well I have something to say, I’m mad at you Robyn because this story is not supposed to end yet… I want more.. I love this story, it’s great and different and great and yeah really great… So I’m not ready for the last chapter.. I want sappy but I also want more… And if we have to have a last chapter please make it with lots and lots of loving-NC-17 type loving and very very long with lots of cute sappy moments and great conversations.. And information on what happens to other key players…

    6. Well HELENA is a good guy after all. TINA was right to call him on this and defend BETTE.YEAH you got the agencies right all about self and not about sacrifices of the one doing the work.now let’s really get these two off by themselves so the healing can begin and thanks for posting.

    10. Wonderful chapter. This has been areal nail biter for me, I can’t wait to see what happens next for these two. Maybe you could even do a little something special for Helena for helping Bette out. The feds are trying to take all of Bette’ money but I’m sure she probable has some stashed so she and Tina can start their new lives without having to worry about being poor. PPS :)
