“I am sorry mom but while she is being like this – I don’t want to talk to her. I told dad and he’s furious with her”

Tina exhaled and picked her bag up.
“Yesterday Bette came with me when I took delivery of your shopping”
Emma listened
“Bette was keen to test our theory that Kate had been to the apartment and hadn’t got in”
“Right”
“Bette could see that the new lock has marks where she had tried to get in with the wrong key”
“Why did she say she wanted to get into the apartment?”
“She said she had important papers”
“She took all her papers – the cabinet is unlocked with the key attached.”
“After Bette had investigated the lock we went inside – the apartment hasn’t been disturbed. But Bette looked at the cabinet”
“She is going to be a worryingly good CI isn’t she?”
“Oh yes – because she has an eye for the tiniest of details – all those accusations about her having OCD when she was 17 weren’t true but what she does have is an eye for anything that is even the slightest bit of place. “Tina removed the brown envelope
“This had fallen down the back of the cabinet – when all the drawers were removed she found this “
Emma took the envelope and gave Tina a look
“Do you know what this is?”
“I am not sure – Bette – I think has a better idea but we haven’t discussed it. Bette thinks it’s important “
Emma opened the envelope and read the document “Well, well, well – that IS interesting. I can see why she is freaking about it being missing”
“I don’t want to know “Tina said “I am trying not to get in the middle of this and I am failing. “
Emma looked at her daughter “This is something she wants very much – that much you know right?”
Tina nodded
“Did either of you touch this?”
“No – Bette had gloves “
“She would have been an excellent criminal – right – I will take care of this – thank you Tina. You and Bette might have saved me a lot of money – and when you do I will be showing you both my gratitude – ah – here’s the soup “

I loved the chapter, I hope whatever Bette found will give Emma the leg up she needs against Kate. I can’t believe what a bitch she is being. She should just take the settlement stay with her rich girlfriend and leave Emma alone. PPS
I love how this chapter unfolded. It takes a big person to admit that her mother was correct in a romantic situation. If Bette and Tina had attended the same college they wouldn’t have had an opportunity to develop their own personalities and appreciate what they had. After college, they could compare the fleeting hookups with their more adult relationship with each other. What was in the envelope must be significant.

yes I also think that if bette and tina had gone too the same collage they wouldn’t be together now and that’s very big of tina to admit another great chapter looking forward to the next pps.
What a grownup thing for Tina to admit that Emma was right. Her approach may have been harsh but they would have not been able to stay together at the same college. Too intense, too much drama. CSI Porter is on the job and Kate is going to get nothing but the clothes on her back if she is not careful. Did Emma have a PI on Kate or did Kate admit her affair in a letter? Bette and Tina are going to reap the benefits of being on the right side of Emma. Thank you for your dedication to the site and all time you devote to writing. Bring on some NYM.

Now Allye you know that chapter was way too short AND our curiosity is piqued. What was in the envelope? My question is if Kate has this wealthy new lover why is she trying to stick it to Emma? Maybe her new lover isn’t as wealthy as she seems and Kate is being scammed. Hmmmm. Please post again soon.
Great update , but in dying to know what was in the envelope? Was it related to the prenuptial agreement? And it’s just cruel of Tina to send her gf a selfie of her all dolled up and then runoff for lunch with mom…lol just so cruel

I hope Emma finds a new love as she seems to have mellowed and found new perspective. Can’t wait to learn what is in the envelope that Kate wants.
