    She told him how difficult it was to build back the trust but how they’d managed to do it because each was invested in working things out. She made him realize that everyone suffers at one time or another in their lives. They can’t let it be their ruin. They have to fight and come out stronger in the end. She told him she knew he had the Porter fighting spirit because he’d accomplished so much on his own from sheer determination.

    After that visit Bette had stayed in touch with David. They emailed or spoke on the phone a couple of times a week. Tina was the only one she shared all this with. Bette hadn’t even told Kit that she knew where David was. She’d promised David that she wouldn’t say anything to Kit until he was ready.

    David called Bette on the morning of her birthday.

    “Hello?”

    “Hey Auntie. Happy Birthday!!” Bette loved that David called her ‘Auntie’ even though he was a grown man not too much younger than she. It made her feel that they had re-connected as family.

    “David. I can’t believe you remembered. I just mentioned it in passing.” Bette hadn’t expected the call.

    “I remember everything we’ve talked about these past few months. I didn’t tell you but I started seeing a therapist. After you told me how Emma has helped you I thought I would give it a try. It’s really helped me to come to terms with a lot of stuff I’ve been holding inside. Our talks really helped me too. I think I might be ready to see Kit.”

    “David that’s great news. I’m glad you decided to see the therapist. It’s obviously been good for you. Are you going to call Kit?”

    “No. I thought I would just come out to Los Angeles. I think this meeting needs to be face to face.”

    “When were you thinking of coming?”

    “Gina and I have vacation from December 23rd until January 1st. We thought maybe we would spend some of that time in LA. I’d like to meet my little cousin and Tina. I guess what I’m saying is I’d like to spend the holidays with family. Gina is an only child and her parents have passed away. She doesn’t have any family to speak of. We’ve always just spent the holidays on our own or with friends.”

      It has so many wonderful and emotional parts, like Lady sovjet already said, it brought tears in my eyes.

You had every emotion possible that a person or family could experience and all surrounded by love. FANTASTIC. Can hardly wait for the sequel to see Bette and family and see Peggy express her love for Bette and her family and to see just how Peggy helps Bette rise to greater heights and importance in the worlds of Art and Business.
