“Good afternoon Ladies. Happy Birthday Bette.”
“Thank you Monica.”
Bette didn’t expect there to be anyone inside the limo so she was shocked when she started to get in and saw that Kit, Alice, Leigh and Shane were already inside. They all yelled surprise in unison and wished her a happy birthday. Now she really couldn’t figure out what was going on. She had thought that Tina’s plan only included her and Angie.
“Come on old lady get in the car. You’re getting older by the minute.” Alice teased.
“Ha ha. Thanks Al.”
Bette, Tina and Angie settle in their seats and Monica pulled away from the curb. The girls had already started on mimosas. They served Bette and Tina. Angie and Kit drank plain orange juice. They had birthday gifts for Bette, and this year Alice bought her a beautiful watch. She loved it and mouthed thank you to Tina because she knew she must have helped Alice to pick it out.
Shane gave her a beautiful black and white portrait of herself that she didn’t even know Shane had taken. Shane had captured her essence in the picture and she loved it. Leigh gave her a miniature art collection from an artist whose works she admired. Kit gave her LA Broadway show tickets. Bette loved all her great gifts. She thanked her family for being so thoughtful.
After about 30 minutes the limo stopped in front of one of Los Angeles’ most exclusive highly rated Italian restaurants. It had made Alice’s top 10 list for LA Magazine. They had lunch reservations and the group enjoyed one of the best meals they’d ever had.
The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was excellent, and the food lived up to its reputation. They left the restaurant about two hours later and Monica was waiting for them in front. Bette noticed another limo pulling up behind theirs but considering the caliber of the restaurant and the area they were in it wasn’t so unusual.
“Babe why don’t you say good-bye to Angie and the girls. We’re riding in that limo.” Tina says pointing to the other one.
“Where are we going?” Bette asked.
“I told you. I’m in control today. You are just along for the ride. OK? Now say goodbye to everyone we need to get going.”

I must thank you for reposting this amazing story! Although i read it earlier, to me it felt as the first time.
It has so many wonderful and emotional parts, like Lady sovjet already said, it brought tears in my eyes.

You had every emotion possible that a person or family could experience and all surrounded by love. FANTASTIC. Can hardly wait for the sequel to see Bette and family and see Peggy express her love for Bette and her family and to see just how Peggy helps Bette rise to greater heights and importance in the worlds of Art and Business.
