    Soul Mates – Chapter 3

"Its not important" Was all she finally managed to get out.

Bette’s lips twitched as she snorted, "Oh come on, T. This is a woman you’re gonna spend the rest of your life with. Of course its important"

Tina felt her heart tighten at the nickname, it had been so many years since she last heard it. A few years back, Alice said it during a casual conversation and Tina’s eyes filled with tears. She quickly explained that the nickname brought back bad memories and Alice never said it again after that. Tina ensured no one else said it either, it was meant for Bette and Bette only.

Bette laughed bitterly when Tina said nothing and brought her back from her thoughts, "What, did you think I wasn’t gonna figure that out or somethin’? Just cause I talk slow, doesn’t mean I’m stupid. There’s only one reason you would pay a personal visit for those papers"

Tina felt her mouth turn dry, guilt eating her alive once more "Look, Bette-"

"Hey, if you’re not gonna share the story then at least lemme see the ring" Bette said, cutting her off.

    Tina pursed her lips, "No"

    "Why not?"

    "Because its not important"

    "So what? Show me anyway"

    "I said no"

    "Stop bein’ a little girl"

"You stop bein’ such an ass!"

Bette couldn’t help but let a breath of laughter escape her, "I’m bein’ an ass?"

Tina crossed her arms over her chest, "I’m glad you finally admitted to it"

Bette opened her mouth to say something but Tina’s phone began to ring. The blonde quickly opened her purse and sent the call to voicemail without bothering to see who it was. Bette glanced at her again.

    "Coulda been your girl"

    "I’ll call her later"

Bette shrugged a shoulder and smirked, "You might worry her"

    "No I won’t"

"Well, if she has any idea what I look like, I guarantee she’s gonna worry alright"

Tina rolled her eyes, "You’re so cocky"

The truck came to a slow then a full stop as Bette put it in park and chuckled, "Just statin’ the obvious, darlin’. I’m not sayin’ anythin’ that you haven’t said in the past already"

    1. When I read this story last night there were no comments, yet. Now that I’m back to comment, there’s nothing left that hasn’t been said. But what I was going to say last night was: “I’ll just wait here, because I’m sure you intend to fix this any minute, now.” ;-)

    2. I mentioned in my last comment that by luck I was able to “rent” Sweet Home Alabama from the library. But like dessert, I’m saving it for last to watch. Great portrayal of Kelly – I just realized how strange it is that generally speaking most everyone who watched TLW are such anti-fans of Kelly and Jodi, when the actresses who portrayed them are good friends with JB. Funny…anyway, thx again for yet another post & the fact that you make them SO long – I LOVE that :D Anxiously awaiting your next post & still can’t wait for the reveal on B’s success!

    3. Loving this so much Liah!!!! Brilliant B&T take on that movie. I was dying reading Kelly’s part, another brilliant take on that, making her a stripper. I can’t wait for more. Thanks Liah😘
