    Soul Mates – Chapter 8

Tina heard a beep after the message greeting and dropped the phone from her ear with a heavy sigh. Alice gave her a sad smile as she leaned forward and squeezed her friend’s hand, hoping Tina didn’t cry because then Alice would cry too.

"It’s okay, you can try again later"

Tina pressed her lips tightly together, nodding as she fought a wave of tears.

Looks like you really fucked up this time, Tina

Just as Tina was going to excuse herself to shed a few tears in the bathroom, her assistant, Sam rushed over to her table.

    "Oh there you are!"

Judging by the tone in the woman’s voice, Tina felt something churn in the pit of her stomach, "What is it?"

Sam had appeared flustered when she approached the table but now excitement had begun to shine through and it confused Tina to no end, "Okay so this might sound like either good news or bad news, depending on how you take it"

Not really in the mood for guessing games and with her patience wearing thin, Tina lowered her forehead into her hand.

"Please just spit it out, Sam"

"Okay, okay" Sam rushed out with excitement as she claimed the seat in front of Tina and Alice, "So I just got off the phone with the people at Vanity Fair-"

"About the fashion show?" Tina quickly raised her head, her attention was completely focused on her assistant whom she had just cut off.

A wide smile spread across Sam’s face, "Yeah and well, apparently the Editor-in-Chief read the interview you did down in Alabama and said she loved it, ‘couldn’t get enough of it’ were her exact words I believe. Then she went on about how it made her miss her Southern roots and she became more in touch with-"

"Sam!" Tina blurted out in hopes of stopping her assistant’s rant and getting the brunette back on track. Tina was much too impatient to wait to hear the rest.

"Right, anyways she had this rather killer idea to change the location of the fashion show"

Tina’s eyes widened as she scooted her seat as close as she could get it, leaning the rest of the way in her excitement and curiosity, "Move it to where?"

    1. bette is so thick in the head in this one. wake up and start treating tina right. Helena is so sweet. if Bette doesn’t want to fight for Tina, please set her free and let Helena win her over again.

    2. helena is sweet, decent, and beautiful. so if Bette wants to push Tina away…i won’t blame Tina for feeling something for Helena after being jilted. Bette wake up. Go get Tina or else someone else will!

    3. Yep, Bette would probably appreciate hearing that she was always the first choice. But she’ll have to get her head out of her pittuty to hear it. :-) Thank heaven for the superior mule-handling skills of Alice and Kit. Now when are we gonna learn what Bette’s been up to in her world-conquering activities? Maybe at the big show? (Doncha hate it when readers try to guess what’s coming? OK, I’ll stop doing that.)

    4. I love the phrase that it takes a village to raise a child. I sometimes think that it takes an extended family to get two people together who fate has guided to be in the same space so that they can chose their destiny to be together. Besides anything worth having is worth fighting for. Me thinks that the two lovers are ready to fight for each other!

    5. Someone has to make the first big overture or grand gesture… may as well be Bette since she seems to have been laboring under a lot of assumptions. Tina spilled her guts to everyone but Bette it seems (maybe she would have if Bette would have picked up the phone or seen her, though). Maybe once she gets to Alabama Bette will sweep her off her feet (in more ways than one)? A girl can hope ;) Thanks for the post! :)

    6. I’ve read the chapter a few times more and I think if Tina calls again she should tell Bette that she loves her and only her and wants to make their marriage work and that the divorce has been called off. I think Btte needs to hear that. Can’t wait to see what Bette thinks of the fashion show being in town. This is a great story.
