    Soul Singing 4

“Don’t you ever think that How,” Dana said seriously as she pulled her brother away to look him in the eyes. “You are always going to be more important to me than any of that other ‘stuff’ in my life, alright?”

“More important than tennis?” Howie asked playfully.

    “Yes.”

    “Money?”

    “Are you kidding me?”

    “Alice?”

“I-Iwhat about we say you two are of equal importance?” Dana said quietly after awhile.

“Deal,” Howie replied smiling. “Mind you if it were anyone else I’d be mighty pissed off that they tied with me.”

“Really?” Dana asked, surprised at this show of affection towards Alice on her brother’s part.

“Really Dane. She’s affected your life in the last two weeks more than you will ever know. And that’s a good thing.”

“I’m really, really glad you like her How,” Dana stated sincerely, a small smile creeping across her face. “Because I really, really like her too.”

The two sat in silence for a few minutes. For Howie, it felt as if a huge burden had been lifted from his shoulders, thanks partially to Alice. He was *****, and he was out to the one person that mattered the most. The only other big boundary were his parents

“What’s up Howie?” Dana asked as she looked over to see her younger brother laughing silently to himself.

“Can you imagine what the country club will say about two ***** Fairbanks‘?”

“Oooooh you little pretty one, my pretty one. When ya gonna give me some tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime Sharona!” Liam bellowed from the kitchen, singing along to the Knack hit which was currently blaring from the stereo.

“oooooh you make my motor run, my motta run! Coming down the” Alice continued, mumbling the last half of the sentence as she forgot the words.

“Never gonna stop from th-” Suddenly the music ceased, along with the rest of the electricity and lighting in the house.

“*****,” Liam heard Alice say from the other side of the room. “We’ve got ourselves a black out yawl”

“Really Al?” Liam asked with a smirk.

“Dammit. What are we suppose to do now Liam? Dana’s coming around in an hour and we have no lights. I doubt she will be impressed by yet another ***** date.” Alice slumped down onto her couch and pushed her head back, breathing deeply. She couldn’t understand why everything was going so badly.
