Thick drops of blood dripped unhurriedly down Bette’s hand, like honey trickling from an upside-down spoon… a steady flow… drip…drip…drop… red crimson running down her fingers from a deep gash on her arm, now gaping open.
Tina told her to leave it for now, so she did, too tired to do anything other than lean forward wearily in her seat, elbows on her knees, head hanging. Sweat trickled from her forehead to join the blood on the floor and Bette watched as they pooled, fighting the desire to close her eyes, exhaustion weaving through her body like an intricate spider web, her very bones cement. Her vision wavered for a moment and she blinked, suddenly irrationally fixated on the mosaic of red between her feet.
Red contrasted nicely with the dark mahogany wood of the boat and her thoughts wandered aimless to all the blood shed on this day, her own and others, and all the blood spilled in her time as marauder and crusader of the seven seas. The deaths, the treasure, the song of steel.
Bare feet materialized in her line of vision, stepping carefully to avoid the blood on the floor, and Bette knew those toes, knew the soft fingers now lifting her chin gently, and she was glad she kept her eyes open for looking down at her were eyes the color of sea foam, kind eyes, eyes that belonged to Tina.
Her wife.
Her most important, her very reason, her haven, the epicenter of her world… and suddenly she felt a lump form in her chest, lodging there painfully. Blood fell today, like rain, but now… now… Tina was here. Fucking Safe.
“Tee…” she whispered quietly, so quietly it was like a whisper in the wind, but she knew Tina heard by the way she bit her lip, her eyes going impossibly soft. They just looked at each other, a gaze loaded with the events of the day, terrible events sitting between them, a heavy stone, a wrecking ball, a massacre. The ugliness, the violence, the sheer brutality, the many and more deaths.
“Babe…” Tina’s eyebrow rose, and the brunette felt fleetingly soothed for that eyebrow could solve just about anything. Her voice was just as quiet, a blanket over the hurts… “I know you’re tired, Honey. I know you need to sleep. And eat. I just want to see if there is anything serious, ok?”

I just saw everyone on Twitter breaking down because there was an update I had also messaged you on Twitter a while ago showing so much love so I’m so happy this has been updated I check everyday for this and the remember who you are sequel the journey your fics take me on it really feels like I’m there watching it all unfold you truly are one of my favourite writers I always reread your fics over and over especially while waiting for updates they truly make me so happy and leave me waiting for more so thank you I hope you won’t be gone so long anymore but I do hope that everything is going okay but you’re very much loved by the tibette community and you’ve been very missed not just by me but everyone I always see people asking where you are and if you’re okay you’ve been so missed and everyone especially me loves a lengthy chapter it’s incredible thank you for coming back I think we all would have been devastated if you didn’t come back and continue with this fic and remember who you are you’ve taken us to these places with you and it’s the best feeling so I’m so happy you’re back and continuing and I know everyone else would feel the same way because you’re always missed and being asked about and I hope that you will always come back

I absolutely love how Bette and Tina are in tune with each other, how Tina knows how to take care and handle when Bette struggles and feel uncertainty about her feelings. With care, strength, compassionate words and lots of love Tina is there for Bette.
Tina and their kids are the most important for Bette and she will always protect them. She would willingly give her life for them.
I hope Maxine and Bette will develop a good relationship, Bette took a first step to reach out and beckoning Maxine to them to enjoy a family moment.

What a beautiful chapter! Every time I hear “Crispy” I think of sweet Dana. Then the nod to the next gen proposal “one could argue but one would not would they” Thank you for saving Bette’s mom and Tina. The reunion on the beach was so sweet. Thank you for the update! It was worth the wait.

What an update! Perhaps the best one yet, I have probably said that before…but wow. This chapter had everything
“the whole epic story” That’s what this story is. It’s a GREAT adventure story, it’s a love story, Bette and her mother, Bette & Tina and their children & friends – I loved Shane telling Bette they would come find her – and Bette & Tina.
My favorite part, and there were so many, lol – ‘And raucous abandon suddenly, wildly, transformed into sweet intimacy, as it always was with them. Fast and furious passion now a poem on the wind, tears prickling at hazel eyes as Tina dissolved, completely lost to the woman above her.’ PERFECT
And the ending, made me cry.

Hi Westy! The ending was emotional, and it is hard for me to leave this story to be honest. There are many directions it could take from here, I will need to think on continuing or letting a good story end when it is time :) You and other readers who respond motivate me to keep writing these stories. Magnificent ending. The plan to shorten the reunion with the children . . . and then when alas, they laid eyes on one another . . . Mama, Mama, Mama!!!!
And then the game of 1000 questions and even more as the Moms, especially Bette, tried to quickly satisfy their gleeful exhuberance. Pure, UNadulturated J O Y.

Wow, that was a great chapter. I don’t know how I missed it when it was posted, but I’m so glad I finally found it. I knew that little jerk was going to get his. He should have known better than to threaten our captain with possible harm to Tina. And I am so glad that the children have been reunited with their moms. Bette has been given the opportunity to have a new relationship with her mom, I hope she takes it. She needs to talk as well as listen so they both get the whole story without assuming anything. Bette knows the kind of man Melvin was, Maxine may have had to leave in order to save her own life. He certainly would not have allowed her to take his children with her. They were worth too much to him. He did imprison and try to force Bette to get married so he could gain more wealth. Even though he knew she did not care for men in that way. I’m so happy you are back with us. Hope we can expect a new chapter of RWYA soon.
