Then there was the baby Ella. Standing, wanting to walk, teeth appearing, and hair as curly and wild as her brunette mother… tiny little Ella who gave big sloppy kisses and babbled back and forth at her mothers, having a lot to say about their absence, undecided on who she missed more.
Hours later, a large glass of mead in her hand and Gracie asleep in her lap, Bette put her feet on the stool in front of her, crossing her ankles. Her free hand rested on the little girl’s back, feeling each breath the child took. Just lovely.
They were in the garden, Tina and Sister Elise touring the new additions of a thriving herb garden and a vegetable plot. In Tina’s arms slept Ella, her head turned on the blonde’s shoulder to face Bette and the brunette felt her heart constrict at the sight of her beautiful, graceful wife with the sleeping babe in her arms and flowers all around. Coming here was the best idea she had, aside from marrying Tina. Maybe staying for awhile to plan their future would be good for everyone.
When the boys finished eating, they circled around Bette, wanting her full attention and Gracie woke to the sounds of their chatter, her eyes sleepy and large as she snuggled deeper into her mother’s chest, her cheeks red from the warmth and she sighed contently before tucking her hands in between them. Bette’s heart filled her chest with everything that was warm and good in the world. She vowed never to leave her family again. And she kept that vow until the very last breath she took.
“Boys, tell me all about what you have been doing while Mama Tee was off killing the King and I steered the ship away.”
And they did, stories of sword fights that involved a lot of Rowan jumping and hiding in caves and tales of Peter sneaking into castles to rescue all the people. And Bette soaked it all in like the sand greets the water, thrilled to hear their little voices, chuckling at the antics they described.
She didn’t notice Maxine slipping quietly into the garden, helped there by another one of the sisters. They sat on a bench overlooking the group below and watched as Tina joined Bette to stand at her wife’s side, gently tucking an errant curl behind Bette’s ear, leaning over to kiss the side of her head then a longer kiss on her lips.
If Love was a picture, it would be this scene, Gracie now wanting to be held by Tina and Ella squealing as Bette lifted her to blow on her round belly, Peter climbing up to take the space in Bette’s lap that his sister vacated.
And across the herbs and the staked sunflowers, over the patch of vegetables waiting to be picked and the rickety, wobbly fence, Bette’s eyes found her mothers and she did not hesitate, waving with her hand for Maxine to come join them with a grin as wide as the day was long,, and she did, standing carefully to move slowly towards the happy family, real healing beginning at last.

I just saw everyone on Twitter breaking down because there was an update I had also messaged you on Twitter a while ago showing so much love so I’m so happy this has been updated I check everyday for this and the remember who you are sequel the journey your fics take me on it really feels like I’m there watching it all unfold you truly are one of my favourite writers I always reread your fics over and over especially while waiting for updates they truly make me so happy and leave me waiting for more so thank you I hope you won’t be gone so long anymore but I do hope that everything is going okay but you’re very much loved by the tibette community and you’ve been very missed not just by me but everyone I always see people asking where you are and if you’re okay you’ve been so missed and everyone especially me loves a lengthy chapter it’s incredible thank you for coming back I think we all would have been devastated if you didn’t come back and continue with this fic and remember who you are you’ve taken us to these places with you and it’s the best feeling so I’m so happy you’re back and continuing and I know everyone else would feel the same way because you’re always missed and being asked about and I hope that you will always come back

I absolutely love how Bette and Tina are in tune with each other, how Tina knows how to take care and handle when Bette struggles and feel uncertainty about her feelings. With care, strength, compassionate words and lots of love Tina is there for Bette.
Tina and their kids are the most important for Bette and she will always protect them. She would willingly give her life for them.
I hope Maxine and Bette will develop a good relationship, Bette took a first step to reach out and beckoning Maxine to them to enjoy a family moment.

What a beautiful chapter! Every time I hear “Crispy” I think of sweet Dana. Then the nod to the next gen proposal “one could argue but one would not would they” Thank you for saving Bette’s mom and Tina. The reunion on the beach was so sweet. Thank you for the update! It was worth the wait.

What an update! Perhaps the best one yet, I have probably said that before…but wow. This chapter had everything
“the whole epic story” That’s what this story is. It’s a GREAT adventure story, it’s a love story, Bette and her mother, Bette & Tina and their children & friends – I loved Shane telling Bette they would come find her – and Bette & Tina.
My favorite part, and there were so many, lol – ‘And raucous abandon suddenly, wildly, transformed into sweet intimacy, as it always was with them. Fast and furious passion now a poem on the wind, tears prickling at hazel eyes as Tina dissolved, completely lost to the woman above her.’ PERFECT
And the ending, made me cry.

Hi Westy! The ending was emotional, and it is hard for me to leave this story to be honest. There are many directions it could take from here, I will need to think on continuing or letting a good story end when it is time :) You and other readers who respond motivate me to keep writing these stories. Magnificent ending. The plan to shorten the reunion with the children . . . and then when alas, they laid eyes on one another . . . Mama, Mama, Mama!!!!
And then the game of 1000 questions and even more as the Moms, especially Bette, tried to quickly satisfy their gleeful exhuberance. Pure, UNadulturated J O Y.

Wow, that was a great chapter. I don’t know how I missed it when it was posted, but I’m so glad I finally found it. I knew that little jerk was going to get his. He should have known better than to threaten our captain with possible harm to Tina. And I am so glad that the children have been reunited with their moms. Bette has been given the opportunity to have a new relationship with her mom, I hope she takes it. She needs to talk as well as listen so they both get the whole story without assuming anything. Bette knows the kind of man Melvin was, Maxine may have had to leave in order to save her own life. He certainly would not have allowed her to take his children with her. They were worth too much to him. He did imprison and try to force Bette to get married so he could gain more wealth. Even though he knew she did not care for men in that way. I’m so happy you are back with us. Hope we can expect a new chapter of RWYA soon.

I don’t know how I missed this update. I kept looking and waiting and decided to leave it for awhile. I was going to ask you if you were going to add anymore to this story and Remember Who You Are – A Return to the River today when I decided to check again. This is an amazing story and I’m so glad you updated it. You’re an amazing writer and these are the stories I always come back to when I’m missing this couple.
