Tina decides to hook up her equipment and gets to work.
The smell of Tina and fresh coffee wakes Bette up, as she stretches she pulls the jacket that’s drape over her and takes a big deep breath Bette groans as she smells Tina scent on the garment she slowly pulls herself into sitting position on the couch rubs her eyes and takes another deep breath as she now smell the fresh brewed coffee.
She looks over to her desk and sees the only thing she’s been dreaming of for the past 3 weeks, Tina Kennard.
“Hey Tina Good Morning”
“It s more like good afternoon Bette” chuckled Tina “Come on get up and have some coffee and eat something I ordered you some of those bagels and croissants you like so much from the planet”
“Ok what time is it?” asked Bette
“It’s a little after 12pm “
“After 12! Why didn’t you wake me? How long have you’ve been here?”
“Well you looked so peaceful and tired I didn’t want to wake and to answer your second question I’ve been here since 6 this morning”
“T, why didn’t you wake me I could have helped you know”
“Its ok a couple more hrs and I should be done, now go on sit have your coffee and please eat something, honestly Bette I have never seen a person go so long without eating and still have the stamina to put in 12 hr days, how do you do it?”
“I don’t know I guess I just forget to eat.” Bette shrugged her shoulders
“Tina, can I ask you a question?” Bette didn’t wait for Tina to answer “Why the movie business? It’s such an eat or be eaten kind of business are you sure your ready for that?’ Asked Bette
Tina took a moment and then answered
“My professors warned me about all the ugly things that go on, I guess I hope I can maybe change some of that maybe I’m being naive. Movies have always been somewhat of an outlet for me, I was not very popular growing up my parents were, are very religious I led somewhat of a sheltered life, and I used to sit around all day and watch movies I’d lose myself in the characters pretend I was the hero sometimes even the villain” Tina chuckled and this brought a smile to Bette’s face, Bette was taken aback at just how beautiful Tina looked at right this moment, how her hazel eyes just lit up.
“I was un ugly duckling growing up still am I guess movies just made me forget anything that was going around me”
“You’re not ugly” Bette said looking right at Tina.
Tina looked right into Bette’s dark brown eyes, felt her heart flutter, cleared her throat and got back to work.
2 hrs later, Tina was finally done.
“Alright Bette I’m done you want to take a look?”
“I’m dying to take a look” Bette said
15 minutes later Bette was beside herself “Wow Tina that was fantastic, I’m amazed, it’s perfect!”
“I’m glad you like it” Tina said as she started to put her equipment away.
Tina looked at her watch, she had to leave or she was going to be late.
“Bette, do you mind if I pick up my equipment tomorrow when I come to work?” asked Tina I really have to get going”
“You’re leaving?” Bette asked surprised
“Yeah, I have 2 tutoring sessions today, and I can’t be late”
“I was hoping to buy you dinner as a thank you”
“I’m sorry I can’t, the quarterback of the football team really needs to pass his final or he won’t be playing next year, besides I really need the money”
“Oh, ok then” Bette said disappointed “I’m going to stay and finish up my meeting is at 1pm and I still have to finalize the numbers”
“Ok Bette, TRY not to work so hard, Kits sending over dinner in a couple of hours and I’m leaving a fresh pot of coffee for you”
“Kits sending diner?” asked Bette
“Yeah, I told her to send it around 4 I figured you’d still be here and I wanted to make sure you ate something other than coffee” Tina said as she walked out the office.
Bette felt a smile rise to her lips and felt what Bette could only describe as warm tingly sensation, Oh my god what am I 10? Jesus what’s going on with me lately. She said as she got back to work.

I like the twist… though Tina is the ‘ugly duckling’ coming of age so to speak, the title seems to be from her gorgeous boss’ perspective… PPS!
This is so cute. Tina the ugly duckling (really the beautiful swan) working hard to be successful and lusting after the incredible hard working Bette Porter.
What a great story! Maybe Bette can revisit that dinner invitation after her presentation… a victory celebration with Tina. Glad Bette’s able to see beyond the big glasses and unflattering clothes… although Tina in those jeans certainly helped! Look forward to seeing how her interview with Helena goes.
I have the feeling Bette is going to miss Tina like crazy after she successfully lands a concrete with the movie studio. Perhaps this will prompt her to realize that Tina already holds her heart. This is such a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing it.

I yust chatched up with your story. I love it. I love this shy and ‘ugly’ Tina but in the inside she is a strong young and beautiful lady. I like Bette that she sees unbeknown to her the lovley and beautiful side of Tina. I can’t wit for more. Great you for your first one. PPS
Tina seems very comfortable in her skin and she takes care of Bette like it is secon nature. Can’t wait for them to get closer, maybe Tina’s tutoring session will be canceled and she can go back and have dinner with Bette. PS
Love this story. Your Tina is loving and caring as always and I am very glad to see that. She is dedicated to her life and what it is she is trying to do and still has time to feel and care for others. That is the mark of a very wonderful person that deserves the same care and treatment for herself that she gives to others, yet she asks for nothing for herself. Now it is Bette’s turn to do some things for Tina. Bette needs to investigate what she needs and pay her more for starters. Does Tina take the bus or does he have a car of her own? I’l bet she takes the bus, and if that is the case, Bette shoudl buy her a car with insurance so it will be a little easier for her to commute from the dorm to school. And Bette should make this job more than temporary so Tina can stop having to go all over town for temp jobs. I like this Tina very much. This is a prime example of “pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps.” Tina has done a magnificient job of taking care of herself. And no doubt she will rise quickly to the top of her chosen profession. Bette should give her a car for graduation but give it to her early. Great update. PPS
