That evening, Bette and I dressed to go out to dinner. We met Alice and some dude she was dating at the time. I do not remember his name. Alice went through dates like most people go through laundry. Anyway, Alice noticed how affectionate Bette and I were with each other and of course she deposed Bette in a manner that only Perry Mason could match. Unfortunately, her date and I were simply members of the gallery watching Alice do her thing with Bette. Before leaving the bar, Alice insisted that I accompany her to the ladies’ room so she could render her verdict. To my disbelief, she pronounced Bette Porter a worthy potential mate for me. Bette had completely wowed her. Alice said if Bette were available, she wouldn’t mind dating Bette herself. She went on to say she could tell that Bette was completely smitten with me. She then told me that I had found lighting in a bottle and that I needed to hang on to Bette Porter because she was someone really special. Knowing that Alice could see it too put me over the moon. I thanked Alice and hugged her neck and then went back to Bette. We said goodnight to Alice and her date and went on to dinner.
Dinner was wonderful. Bette smiled and laughed and her eyes sparkled with joy. We then went to a quiet jazz bar for a night cap. There Bette asked me to dance with her. She chose this nice slow dance and pulled me into her body as we glided across the floor. She held me tight and whispered into my ear little sweet nothings. She said she was glad that the Bidens had insisted we stay at Camp David for the weekend and get to know one another. After a dance or two more, we return to my condo. We dealt with Burt and Ernie and then retired to the bedroom. We made love slowly and with deliberation and fell asleep totally entangled in each other’s arms and legs. I was in heaven.
By Monday afternoon, Bette suggested that I return with her to Seattle and visit her for a week. She then suggested that we check Burt and Ernie into a doggy hotel so that they have their own vacation while I was gone. I made the arrangements. By the end of the week, I was so into Bette Porter, I could not see my life without her.

I love how they meet, their time at Camp David and the natural progression they took together.
Try really are perfect for each other and your story certainly reflects that.

First of all this story is an alternative time and life for our Bette and Tina. The story is being told by a woman who is older (85 years old) and has experienced a full and joyful life with the woman she loved. They have had more than 40 years together even though they didn’t meet until they were middled aged. I like that they took the time to get to know one another for a few days before charging into a romantic relationship. I like that Bette insist that Tina think about her own life and if she is prepared for the changes which will occur as they start to see each other romantically. Bette wants Tina to make her decision about her life knowing the possible downside. For me, that shows immediately how much Bette respects and cares for Tina right out of starting gates. I also like that Bette insist they talk about things fully as they go. She seeks out Tina’s boundaries and comfort level before they do anything. This is why their relationship is so strong…. they hide nothing from each other.
From the idea to publication, I took 4 days… I enjoyed writing this story because I could see that both Bette and Tina would go from a mundane life to a life of love and devotion within a matter of weeks. And it would result in a lifetime of happiness. Isn’t that what we all want in our lives?

OneStorm1 – Thank you for reading… I published this a little more than a year ago and I posted it this year on Achieve of Our Own. I do have three long book stories which is a single series and one other one shot which is about the same length as this one. I then not to writer about angst and problems between Bette and Tina. I think there are plenty of authors who present those kind of stories. All my published stories are on this website.
