“I’d love to see her for a proper good-bye but that might just confuse her under the circumstances. Besides I do have another reason for calling other than to see how you are. I needed to make sure that I’d made the right decision.”

”Decision about what?”

”Leaving Los Angeles.”

”You’re leaving?”

”Yes. I was offered a great opportunity to work with a studio in New York. They are doing some projects overseas so I’ll be gone for quite some time.”

“So you’re calling to say goodbye?”

“Yes, this is hello and goodbye. I loved our time together Tina and although I regret that it couldn’t be more I don’t regret loving you. I can only dream of ever finding the kind of everlasting love that you and Bette share. Take care of each other.”

“Kate. Thank you. You truly are a good friend and a good person. I feel honored to have known you. You’ve helped me to face so many truths about myself. I wish you all the best in your career and I hope you do find that special someone that will give you the everlasting love that you deserve.”

“Thank you Tina. Take care of yourself and your family. Give Angie my love.”

After hanging up with Kate Tina felt more devastated from the loss of a friend than a lover. She’d somehow hoped that she would still have Kate in her life in some capacity. After all Bette was still friends with both her ex-lovers; Jodi Lerner and Leigh Ostin. It was with these thoughts in mind that Tina answered Bette’s phone call.

Later that evening …

Bette picked up Angie from the afterschool program and they stopped at the Planet for takeout before heading home. Angie was still talking about her day and how she’d told Jackie that they were living together and how she would move her things from her other room. Kit gave Bette a look when she heard all this and Bette confirmed it. She told Kit she would fill her in later but just wanted to keep it low key for now.

They got to the house about 5 minutes before Tina and were just putting the food out when they heard her key in the door. Angie ran to greet her Mommy who had her hands full with luggage and her laptop computer bag and her purse. Bette helped her with her load and greeted her with a kiss. They all changed out of their work/school clothes into casual wear and washed up for dinner.
