“They look so good together” Leigh said, referring to Bette and Tina

“Those two. They belong together.” Alice responded

“They always have…” Kit continued

“Yeah!” Shane agreed

The song ended and the couples returned to the group. They talked and played more games for a while then it was time to clean up and head home. Angie said goodbye to her friends as Jackie’s moms and then Suzie’s left to go home. Kit, Alice and Shane headed out to the Planet for the Saturday night club scene.

Bette had asked Leigh to stay back for a few minutes. She’d already given her the heads up that Tina needed to talk to her. After they cleaned everything up from the yard and put the leftover food away and the dishes in the dishwasher Bette left the house with Angie to take Riley for his walk. Tina offered Leigh coffee or tea, but she declined both. They sat down in the living room to talk.

“Tina thank you for having me over today. I really enjoyed meeting your friends and family. I appreciate you and Bette welcoming me into your home.”

“We enjoyed having you and everyone enjoyed meeting you as well Leigh. From what I could see Shane was pretty taken with you.”

“I think Shane just has to put her moves on everyone. It’s just sport for her but she’s sweet. She seems like she would make a good friend.”

“She’s a great friend. You won’t find anyone more loyal and true than Shane.”

Leigh smiled appreciating the polite small talk, but knew that wasn’t why Bette left them alone. She decided to initiate the conversation they both needed to have in order to clear the air between them.

“Tina. Bette told me that you wanted to talk to me. I’ve wanted to talk to you too, but I wasn’t sure how to approach you. I’m glad that we have this chance. There is no denying that we have a history. I just don’t want there to be any hard feelings between us. I’d rather just get it out in the open and deal with it OK?”

“Leigh I feel the same way. I was having an issue with Bette inviting you back into her life. You know we’ve only just reconciled. I guess I’m still dealing with some insecurity but that’s my problem not yours.”
