The Gathering 01.94 – Like Me Now? – Return of the Queens – Introductions of the King

“Atmosphere?  Friday night?”  Kit asked, as she got up and went to get a piece of paper to start making a guest list.  She licked the tip of the pen and wiggled her eyebrows, how she loved a party.

“Yeah.”  Dana said, smiling brightly, clapping her hands and Alice grabbed her hand and replaced it on her thigh.  Dana chuckled and squeezed the warm flesh and Alice moaned ever so softly.

“Don’t forget Brian.”  Tina said, with a smile as Bette growled from deep in her throat.

“Great, turn it into a ***** fest why don’t we?”

Sam was sitting on the edge of the pool, she was holding the phone and staring into space, she didn’t hear Shane come in into their house.  She jumped as she felt the soft hands of her wife on her shoulders.  Sam put her hand on Shane’s, feeling the cool ring as Shane sat down with her.  Shane kissed her cheek gently, and seeing that there was something in her lover’s eyes.

“Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”  Shane asked she’d wanted to come home and surprise Sam with a dinner, and warm bath and a long night of love making.  They’d been missing each other constantly the last few weeks.  It was Sam’s last day at the Trauma center and she’d be pulling full time shifts at the ER again, having been lulled back there by the better hours.  Also the better pay, Robert Greene had indeed missed the rambunctious tomboy, and he’d said as much when he’d called her.

“Sit down, please?”  Shane worried the instant she heard the inflection in her voice.  She took Sam’s hand and kissed the back of it, and instantly saw that there was something troubling her wife.  Now what was happening?  Never, was life dull with them.  Shane took her chin and made Sam face her.

“*****, what’s going on?”  Sam tried to keep her voice steady, but it was going to take some doing.  She’d been sitting at the edge of the pool for over three hours now, wondering what to do.

“I never thought I’d have to tell you this, but I have too.  We have to leave for Florida Friday morning; we have to go pick someone up.”  Sam started and she saw the look of total and utter confusion on Shane’s beautiful face.
