“That if something happens to them, I’m the one that gets Jesse, I’m his legal guardian.”

            “Sorry, we can’t make it Jay…  We just can’t…”  Shane was saying as Sam shrugged looking at Shane as Shane just waved the gesture off.  Sam was in a state of shock and she wasn’t in any condition to talk to anyone right now, especially Jayden.

            “Ok, we’ll try, ok, ok.  All right, I promise!”  Shane hung up and put the phone down on the counter as Sam pulled the pizza from the oven.

            “What was that all about?”

            “Jayden said we have to be at Atmosphere Friday night at 8p.m., something for Bette and Tina.”  Sam sighed; she didn’t know what to do.

            “You really want a 3 year old running around the house?   Think about this Shane?  No more late nights, we are gonna be mom, and well, mom.”  Sam said, she stared at the Pizza, she wasn’t hungry.  Shane had made her cook something, and Sam thought how the tables had turned; now someone else was taking care of her.

            “I don’t know, but you have to go and make sure that the baby, Jesse, isn’t in foster care.  They have no family and now this baby is there, and he doesn’t know anyone.  He’s all alone in the world, and you have to go get him.  You can’t leave him there.”  Shane said, getting choked up.

            “I know baby, I know.”  Sam said softly, rubbing her face.

            “I will stand by you, no matter what you decide.  If you want to find him another home, that’s fine.  But this was CJ’s baby, that is a huge part of her, and you can’t deny that, I won’t deny that.  You have to make sure that he’s taken care of.  So we are going to Florida to meet Jesse, and bring him home.”  Shane said, steadfast in her decision.

Friday Morning

            “This way Ms. Vance.”  The man said, and they were led into a room, the paint was peeling and Sam kept shooting glances at Shane, who was having vivid flashbacks of her own time in Foster Care.
