    The gathering of friends

“I think I’d make a contribution in that department.”

“And don’t you think on top of everything else to also have two moms. That is a lot of otherness to put on one child Bette.”

“You know Tina, I can appreciate your honesty but if I got that reaction from my partner I would take it as a rejection of my identity. That type of reaction would say to me that we were not ready to have children together.”

“Well if I were that partner I wouldn’t intend it as a rejection. I’m sure that I would have fallen in love with the whole person and accepted who they are. I wouldn’t be rejecting her. I’m sure that when we look at each other we wouldn’t see a black woman or a white woman. We would just see the person that we love. I don’t know about you Bette but I would hope that if I am ever in that situation that I would be secure enough in my identity and she in hers that it wouldn’t matter the heritage of our children. As long as we made them together or made the decision to adopt them together that would be enough for me to know they’re our children.”

Bette couldn’t argue. She knew she was being overly sensitive. She was just so set on Marcus as the perfect donor. Was it really just ego?

“You are absolutely right. I don’t need a ‘mini’ me to know it’s my child. Our love would bridge any differences and the children would know unconditional love.”

Tina surprised herself that she had such strong conviction on the subject considering she didn’t even want a family right now.

“Come on let’s dance. We have to lighten things up. That subject matter was way too heavy.”

“Sorry. I get a little intense when I’m passionate about something.”

“I’ve already figured that out about you. Come on.”  Tina dragged Bette to the dance floor and they dance a few more numbers. They eventually find Max, Tom, Dylan and Frank back at the table. Everyone is pretty exhausted and they are ready to call it a night. Bette sends a text message to David to let him know they are ready to be picked up. He’s waiting for them at the entrance of the club.

    1. Alright!…Your author’s note cleared that up!..I’m all for twists and turns!..Love how you threw the conversation about the donor disagreement from Season 1 in here…Tina needs to want a monogamous relationship first so she and Bette will be on the same page to pursue a relationship..Nice chapter and loved the interaction with TiBette..Now they can get to know each other a little better in the next chapter!

    2. Great update. Oh wow, they had THE conversation and didn’t get hurt over it. At least that will be out of the way if something does happen and they do get together and make those life altering decisions regarding having a family. Happy they are having a great time together enjoying their time together and learning more about each other. This is a very interesting story. Thanks for posting.

    3. Thnx for the update! Uhm, I`m assuming that at some point in their relationship, Jodies abuse must be adressed.
It`s going a bit slow but I like this sweet and genuine Bette so I`m going to keept at it a little bit longer:)

    4. Really pleased to have some 1 to 1 time with Bette and Tina and very nice how the Donor conversations were introduced., far better than the confrontational way in the Show.

Glad they are together in the loft and look forward to your next post.

    5. It was a very good chapter, and I’m glad that they’re getting to know each other better. and the easy-going conversation between them.
Well it seems the time is the key to this story, Bette and Tina are not emotionally in the same place. and then soon they live in two different part.
I’ will waiting ;) It will also be good to read how their lives turn out.

    6. Interesting to see their views on marriage and children. They have to be on the same page before they can go forward in a romantic fashion. But I am a huge TiBetter, so I want them to realize their fates sooner rather than too late. Excellent chapter!

    7. I quite agree with everyone here how the donor story was introduced. Unlike in the show, I love the softer side of Bette in this story, not sure when Jodies attack on her will resurface? Lets hope Tina and her connect will she is staying at Bette’s loft.

    8. Yes! I know that bette would have nothing with Dylan or Winnie.
Through their conversations talking about how each has its vision of life, and even disagreeing with certain matters, they already give beginning to the future have a solid relationship. I loved this chapter.
      10 stars.
