“Well I’m sure you’ll find the right one someday too. I thought your friend Marcus was really nice and so handsome. What’s his story?”
“No story. He was one of the featured emerging artists at my gallery a few years ago. Peggy saw his work and loved it. She opened some doors for him here in New York. They became close and she’s looked out for him over the years. He and I have remained good friends; even though some people thought he was my brother and accused us of nepotism.”
“You do look alike except for the eyes.”
“They are a lot like yours” Bette says getting lost in the Tina’s similarly colored hazel green orbs. ” I’ve always loved his eyes. It’s one of the physical attributes that makes me want him for a donor when I decide to have children.”
“You’ve already selected a donor before you’ve even met your life-partner? Isn’t that a little presumptuous? I mean she’s never even met the guy.”
“Well I wouldn’t be so presumptuous. Of course I would introduce them but I would hope that if she were my life partner then she would be open to considering Marcus as a donor especially if she were the birth mother. I would think that she’d want our child to be reflective of both our heritages and Marcus represents mine. Would you have a problem using an African American donor if you were my partner and the birth mother?”
“I don’t think I would have a problem using an African American donor or giving birth to a bi-racial child but it’s a very big decision. We would need to discuss it; but regardless of the race I don’t know how I would handle you picking the man that would father our children without any input from me.”
“We would absolutely discuss it Tina. I think it’s something that should be discussed right at the very beginning. But what difference would it make if I already had someone in mind that was perfect for us?”
“I think I would need time to prepare myself.”
“I don’t understand. Other than being committed to spending the rest of your life with me what more do you need to do to prepare?”
“Look at me Bette. I don’t know if I’d feel qualified to be the mother of a child who was half African American. I don’t know what it means to be Black.”

Alright!…Your author’s note cleared that up!..I’m all for twists and turns!..Love how you threw the conversation about the donor disagreement from Season 1 in here…Tina needs to want a monogamous relationship first so she and Bette will be on the same page to pursue a relationship..Nice chapter and loved the interaction with TiBette..Now they can get to know each other a little better in the next chapter!
Great update. Oh wow, they had THE conversation and didn’t get hurt over it. At least that will be out of the way if something does happen and they do get together and make those life altering decisions regarding having a family. Happy they are having a great time together enjoying their time together and learning more about each other. This is a very interesting story. Thanks for posting.

It`s going a bit slow but I like this sweet and genuine Bette so I`m going to keept at it a little bit longer:)
Really pleased to have some 1 to 1 time with Bette and Tina and very nice how the Donor conversations were introduced., far better than the confrontational way in the Show.
Glad they are together in the loft and look forward to your next post.
It was a very good chapter, and I’m glad that they’re getting to know each other better. and the easy-going conversation between them.
Well it seems the time is the key to this story, Bette and Tina are not emotionally in the same place. and then soon they live in two different part.
I’ will waiting ;) It will also be good to read how their lives turn out.

Interesting to see their views on marriage and children. They have to be on the same page before they can go forward in a romantic fashion. But I am a huge TiBetter, so I want them to realize their fates sooner rather than too late. Excellent chapter!
I quite agree with everyone here how the donor story was introduced. Unlike in the show, I love the softer side of Bette in this story, not sure when Jodies attack on her will resurface? Lets hope Tina and her connect will she is staying at Bette’s loft.
Yes! I know that bette would have nothing with Dylan or Winnie.
Through their conversations talking about how each has its vision of life, and even disagreeing with certain matters, they already give beginning to the future have a solid relationship. I loved this chapter.
