“Are you alright? Ms. Cooper? I heard the glass breaking sound so I come and take a look, is everything alright?” Sam’s voice comes from the door.

    Cooper…Justine…The empire…the darkness continues…

A throb of pain shots through her head…the sound of gunshots, and mocking laughs pierce her ears, with the images floating up her mind, hitting her like the FBI agent used to batter her, memories flash back to Tina. She feels like someone is kicking inside her brain with their boots…She struggles away from Bette and quick steps to the French window, trying to get some fresh air, her head is burning like hell.

    “Tina?” Bette worryingly says.

    “Ms. Cooper?”

Sam is still pounding on the door, the noise makes her headaches even worse, which also pulls back the rationality she has been restrained.

In this situation, she cannot be sensitive, she is a criminal chief, a single move can impact the whole business. Everything she does, everything she decides means hundreds maybe thousands of people being tied up.

    “Tina? Tina are you alright?”

Bette is panicking, her voice is shaking and choking by the tears. Tina was amazed by the gentleness of Bette’s voice, always calms her down when she hears it, like the sound of music, which had grown almost dreamy.

But this is not the time to be concerned with love and romance, even how she misses Bette, how she longs for those soft lips, to stroke those exquisite mocha skin, she can’t show it. She has to be the professional convicted felon, undemonstrativeness, calm and gentle, unable to be predicted, for the sake of this woman’s safety.

Right after Bette stepped into this house, Tina knew it’s time.

The chessboard and the last piece of pawn are all well-set, the storm has begun in this great crime empire, the new game is on.

Tina once thought she has more time, even she has planned this for many years, there was still uncertainty loiter in it. But Bette’s appearance just rung the timing bell, the clock is ticking, like the new moment turning point of this organization. This time, it is not just the bullies’ little prank, it’s a game about life and death.

And now, Tina has no choice, she has to drag Bette down for this, even if she reluctant to. Never did she expect that the new accountant she hired was the first woman she loved. She wouldn’t sign the brunette up if she knew it’s Bette. All the criminal in the estate, they will do any unscrupulous divisive tactics to possesses the brunette’s beauty.

Regardless of how much Tina hates Bette, angry at her, still, she swore she will never let anything happen to Bette. After she saw Jodie locked her target at the brunette, she knew she will do anything to protect this woman, even sacrificed her life.

And the premise, Bette should never know about this.

Tina composed herself, she rubs her cheek with her hand, with years of practice, both of her tears and emotion are erased away with one movement, her hazel eyes turn black, cold and heartless.

She slowly turns around, under the moonlight, Bette can see Tina’s red eyes from the after crying and the black pupil, she motionlessly stares at Bette, the brunette feels a cold shiver runs through her body. She tries to say something.

    “Tina…I—”

“Don’t be,” Tina says coldly, even if her heart is breaking, again. “You’re already five years too late.”

    There better be some meaning
’Cause I’m running for my life
    Hiding from my feeling
    That you’re the reason why

Playing games, in the black, through the night
    Stumbling, closed my eyes
Standing here, on the edge, petrified
    All alone, on the side

How far does the dark go?
Give me an omen, show me a sign
How far does the dark go?
Give me an answer, show me the light
How far does the dark go?
How far does the dark go?
How far does the dark go?

If the coast is clear, why can’t I see
If the stakes are loaded, why’s it seem I’m losing everything
Stare down the fear, like a loaded gun
On the bottom track, why’s it seem I can’t see anything

How far does the dark go?
Give me an omen, show me a sign
How far does the dark go?
Give me an answer, show me the light

Guys, chill, there’s more to them than meets the eyes. Sometimes, people don’t have a choice to do what they don’t like.

As for the losing five years, I will reveal in the chapter…later on. XDD Please! Be patient about it, I’m already working on it and I guarantee you that I will make a proper explanation about the missing five years.

    2. Hi CJ:

That was very intense, very strong; it was hard for both of them realizing that after five years each of them is ending on the other side, indeed on the opposite side of the other.

Tina probably had to do what she did, as you said, to survive, and Bette may feel remorse for what she did to her, and perhaps some of her actions five years ago contributed to lead Tina to become in Justine Cooper.

But both are still young, and I think, there are hopes for Tina to change her life and destiny and for Bette to make up for her past bad deeds to Tina.

Great story CJ, eagerly waiting the next chapter.

    3. I am really enjoying this. There is much intrigue and Bette does not know what fate will be delivered to her by Tina. Tina is hardened and bitter by her past but will Bette get through to her. I have my suspicions about Sam but that will come out too. I think that you are doing a great job in weaving this story and. am sure Bette and Tina are in for a wild ride. Thanks so much for this wonderful story????????????

    4. Thanks for the great chapter!

I really don’t understand why Bette stopped to hold on to her first story about accountist and made up about journalism. Tina seems so cold, but under the mask there is something left from school girl, and i like she want to protect Bette. But what the game she want to start? I guess we might find it in the future.

      Waiting for the next update!

    5. Wow, Ok quite a story.
I await your next post and will try to be patient for the continuing drama to be revealed.
Please bring back the lovely Tina and have Bette with her.
      Thanks for the post

    6. y on earth would Bette think that Tina would be “glad” to see her? Even for a second??? I, I, I pretty much is the first out of her mouth!! Bette still believes every moment is about Bette! Surely I’m missing the point right?????
