The Promise
Shane: I gave up coke for this? What I wouldn’t give for a short dance with the ‘White Lady’ (Shane rubbed her forehead) Alright everybody stop!
Shane walked over to the empty piano in the middle of the room. A white full grand piano that screamed ‘Keep Off’. She lifted the key cover and sat down. Shane cracked her knuckles and rested her hands over the keys.
~Play Rhapsody in Blue By George Gershwin~
Shane: You have to learn to trust the keys…they’ll never move or shift if you trust them…
Shane closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She relaxed her fingers and began to play Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin.
Shane: The music can come from your head…that’s where you’ll learn each note, rest and measure…its where you memorize for the first time…but your heart…that’s where the sound comes from…what your feeling will go into the sound… and when it does, the music will flow…you won’t even realize your mind has drifted to something that happened earlier that day….and you won’t realize your talking to someone in the room but your fingers are still moving. Can someone tell what I’m thinking right now just by listening to the music? No one? How about my mood? (She let out a deep sigh) Can you at least tell what I’m feeling
” Empty!” came a voice from behind her. Shane continued to play but opened her eyes and gave a deep sigh… The children in the room ran to the man who had just entered the room. A small Asian girl with missing front teeth was the first to respond.
Erin: Father Joe where were you today we missed you.
Father: Well Erin I had some things that needed my tendin’ to. But don’t you go frettin your wee self. Your in capable hands as long as their Shane’s.
Father Joe’s accent barreled over his words yet always kept a captive audience. Not so much for its beauty, but because it was mysteriously random. Shane rolled her eyes and continued to play her song.
Shane: Capable hands…HA…I’m supposed to teach these kids about playing with emotions and I don’t even know how to deal with my own…that’s not capable that’s hypocritical.

I know what you mean, RealJLo. You have to put the italic text and bold text between tags. And if I type them in here, I think the board will code them rather than showing you the tags. Pain in the butt! But a great story continuing. I’m lovin it.
ok first a correction… in the last section of dialogue when it says “he’s the one who dropped her as a baby…” its supposed to say “dropped her off…” as in at the hospital..I’m laughing hystericaly at my comp because that just gives the story a whole new twist…and second….WHAT’S A TAG?!?!?!
This is just getting more and more interesting!! Please post again soon and thanx for this update!! :)
I love your story JLO! It’s great. Never thought that Shane could play the piano…That’s cool.
Aaargh!!!! Starting to hate these tags now… Does every single letter turn into a tag cos I just turned ‘and’ blue… Gonna try one last time… but only cos I’m stubborn as an ass… the animal that is… put section between the tags < b > and < / b > only without the spaces (if i leave ’em out they turn into tags :S) and for italic < i > and < / i > And now I’m going back to work before the frustration gets to me ~grins and apologises if now you’re more confused~
First off… LOVE the story and LOVE Shane… You’ve definitely got me hanging to your every word… As for the bolds and italics… If you want bold, put the section you want bold between and and if you want italic between and … let’s see if this comes across properly…
Mmm… well that worked really well ~voice dripping with sarcasm as i hit myself upside the head with my coffee mug~… Guess windrider was right… ok… second attempt… tag to start bold is < b > and to end it is b > and for italic it’s < i > and i > only – and this is important – without the spaces between them… so it looks something like and only with b or i… Get it? Or should I just shut up?
Suggestion: ditch Word Perfect and use Word. Or, embed html tags to achieve the same results.
Now, on to this chapter.
Shane’s character is a natural mystery, since the producers barely gave her any lines with which to work in season one. I’m glad you’re delving into her past and present for us.
Hope the typing lessings are going well.. Hee hee.. Jlo…love this story.. I like shane and the panio..opposites attract…take care dear and keep writing you are amazing..
oh no.. I am in the land of Italics… yikes.. :)
