The Promise
Father Joe: Shane why dontcha stop playing that empty music and give em sumptin’ that’s appy’?
Shane and turned and shot him a menacing look.
Father Joe: Go on chyle…jus fake it til ya make it…
~ Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 11 ~
Father Joe: Listen youngins’ the only music worth playin’ is the classics…Da rest is empty… you don’t ‘ave ta pour emotions in ta da classics…its already there for ya… everything else is jus’ empty music…
Shane mimicked Father Joe word for word with her back to him. She had heard the speech a thousand times… probably every single time she played for him. Shane shook her head as she let out a deep breath. She then went into playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 11. The fast tempo rang through the room as the children gathered round her. Shane’s body portrayed the complete opposite of what the music told. Her back remained stiff and up right while her arms were as relaxed as can be. The complete opposite of the normal Shane. In fact the only time she ever sat up properly was when she was at a piano. Shane finished the piece without a hitch. Not a single note was missed or out of place. Shane’s hands moved over the keys like water and yet there was nothing extra to give. If there were any thoughts running through her head, they weren’t shown in the music.
Shane: Class dismissed. Be here on time on Monday.
She rose to leave ignoring all of their stares at the impeccable piece she had just played. The children collected their things and began to walk out as Father Joe stepped into the room.
Father Joe: What’s dis’ bout lesson bein’ slacked off in da morn?
Shane: I have something I need to do tonight and its gonna take all night… its better to cancel classes then to show up half assed tomorrow….they need me when I’m straight.
Shane moved to walk out of the room. But Father Joe just stepped in front of her with his arms crossed.
Father Joe: And what ye be doin’ that’s gonna have ye half assed in the morn?
Shane: Alice came by my job today and..

I know what you mean, RealJLo. You have to put the italic text and bold text between tags. And if I type them in here, I think the board will code them rather than showing you the tags. Pain in the butt! But a great story continuing. I’m lovin it.
ok first a correction… in the last section of dialogue when it says “he’s the one who dropped her as a baby…” its supposed to say “dropped her off…” as in at the hospital..I’m laughing hystericaly at my comp because that just gives the story a whole new twist…and second….WHAT’S A TAG?!?!?!
This is just getting more and more interesting!! Please post again soon and thanx for this update!! :)
I love your story JLO! It’s great. Never thought that Shane could play the piano…That’s cool.
Aaargh!!!! Starting to hate these tags now… Does every single letter turn into a tag cos I just turned ‘and’ blue… Gonna try one last time… but only cos I’m stubborn as an ass… the animal that is… put section between the tags < b > and < / b > only without the spaces (if i leave ’em out they turn into tags :S) and for italic < i > and < / i > And now I’m going back to work before the frustration gets to me ~grins and apologises if now you’re more confused~
First off… LOVE the story and LOVE Shane… You’ve definitely got me hanging to your every word… As for the bolds and italics… If you want bold, put the section you want bold between and and if you want italic between and … let’s see if this comes across properly…
Mmm… well that worked really well ~voice dripping with sarcasm as i hit myself upside the head with my coffee mug~… Guess windrider was right… ok… second attempt… tag to start bold is < b > and to end it is b > and for italic it’s < i > and i > only – and this is important – without the spaces between them… so it looks something like and only with b or i… Get it? Or should I just shut up?
Suggestion: ditch Word Perfect and use Word. Or, embed html tags to achieve the same results.
Now, on to this chapter.
Shane’s character is a natural mystery, since the producers barely gave her any lines with which to work in season one. I’m glad you’re delving into her past and present for us.
Hope the typing lessings are going well.. Hee hee.. Jlo…love this story.. I like shane and the panio..opposites attract…take care dear and keep writing you are amazing..
oh no.. I am in the land of Italics… yikes.. :)
