    The Promise

Father Joe: Aight. I can manage da church by me-self jus you make sure ya fix dis Shane. Ya keep cuttin’ the ones ya got outta your life and ya really will be by your lonesome aye.

Shane: You sure you can handle things tomorrow? I was going to tune the piano in the chapel and two back here…and the organ’s gone to ***** again.

Father Joe: No…there’s no backin out now. Go ‘ave your night… I trust ya won’t do nuttin foolish even if ya don’t go trustin’ yourself.

~ ***** is for Children by Pat Benatar….let it run till the end of the scene~

Shane walked out of the room and back into the room they used for Martial Arts. She saw the smart-mouthed girl she had seen before but she had changed back into her street clothes. The baggy clothes covered her frailty well and left her battle wounds to everyone’s imagination. Shane began to gather her things to leave, avoiding eye contact with the girl who was eyeing her up and down. Shane went into the corner to a large Rubbermaid garbage can filled with dirty sweats. She dragged it over to the center of the room and began to walk out of the room when she stopped.

    Shane: What’s your name?

    ” Name’s Dash”

Under normal circumstances Shane would ask if it were her real name. But with Father Joe’s vast background, he was known for giving out diverse names to people…after all he had given her the name of an Irish man.

Shane: Dash…your on laundry for a month

Shane walked out and leaned against the wall…waiting.

    Shane: Three…two…

    ::Bang::…:: Thud::

Shane smiled to herself when she heard Dash kick over the garbage bin they used for laundry.

Shane: She’s most definitely a chip off the old block.

Shane walked out of the church and down the front cathedral steps to the street.

“Yes I see her now…. no…she’s been sticking to the same schedule… yeah…She’s been in and out all week…uhhh yeah…she’s pretty much running the place for Father O’Connor…the punks on the street call him Father Joe”

Shane crossed the street and hopped in her truck. She put the key in the ignition but the truck just wouldn’t kick over, with the dead battery.

    Shane: ***** ME!

“I looked into him… he’s covered her bills every time she’s ever been in the hospital since she was a kid…yeah anything the state wouldn’t pick up… looks like he’s the one who dropped her as a baby too… yeah…looks like she’s having a bit of car trouble…anyway I will keep you posted on anything else… yes Ma’am..no she hasn’t spotted me yet, but she doesn’t have a reason to does she? Alright … I gotta go she’s hailing a cab, but I’ll give you another update in a few days.”

Shane climbed into the first cab that stopped. She gave the driver instructions to bring her back to lather. Little did she know that the man sitting at the outdoor caf down the block was going there also.

    1. I know what you mean, RealJLo. You have to put the italic text and bold text between tags. And if I type them in here, I think the board will code them rather than showing you the tags. Pain in the butt! But a great story continuing. I’m lovin it.

    2. ok first a correction… in the last section of dialogue when it says “he’s the one who dropped her as a baby…” its supposed to say “dropped her off…” as in at the hospital..I’m laughing hystericaly at my comp because that just gives the story a whole new twist…and second….WHAT’S A TAG?!?!?!

    3. Aaargh!!!! Starting to hate these tags now… Does every single letter turn into a tag cos I just turned ‘and’ blue… Gonna try one last time… but only cos I’m stubborn as an ass… the animal that is… put section between the tags < b > and < / b > only without the spaces (if i leave ’em out they turn into tags :S) and for italic < i > and < / i > And now I’m going back to work before the frustration gets to me ~grins and apologises if now you’re more confused~

    4. First off… LOVE the story and LOVE Shane… You’ve definitely got me hanging to your every word… As for the bolds and italics… If you want bold, put the section you want bold between and and if you want italic between and … let’s see if this comes across properly…

    5. Mmm… well that worked really well ~voice dripping with sarcasm as i hit myself upside the head with my coffee mug~… Guess windrider was right… ok… second attempt… tag to start bold is < b > and to end it is and for italic it’s < i > and only – and this is important – without the spaces between them… so it looks something like and only with b or i… Get it? Or should I just shut up?

    6. Shane’s character is a natural mystery, since the producers barely gave her any lines with which to work in season one. I’m glad you’re delving into her past and present for us.

    7. Hope the typing lessings are going well.. Hee hee.. Jlo…love this story.. I like shane and the panio..opposites attract…take care dear and keep writing you are amazing..
