The Real Deal Ch 13
“Did he hit you?” she asks in a concern voice.
“No, he didn’t. I was his favourite. But he once hit my sister with a high heel shoe and she had to go to the hospital.” I shake my head slightly.
“Wow, I didn’t know. Why didn’t you tell me this before?”
“I don’t want be seen as the victim. I don’t want pity from people. Besides, Mexican families don’t talk about these things.”
“Where is he now?”
“I don’t know. He left with some woman. That’s why we all love mum so much. She has been through a lot. Families can sometimes give you lots of headaches too. You just experienced it later than the rest of us! But we have no choice, we can’t choose our families but we can choose our friends… “ I paused before continue, “and girlfriends.” I smile at her.
“You are an amazing person, Carmen.” She looks at me with admiration.
“I did some things that I wasn’t proud of when I was a kid.” She says after awhile.
“It doesn’t define who you are.” I honestly think so.
“I was once beaten up by some guys. They tied me to a tree, naked and left me to die. An old lady saved me, and took me in. I thought she was an angel. But she died shortly after I got a job at the hair salon. She was like a grandmother to me. I always wish that my own family could be more like her.” She says staring into the ocean. There is a mix of emotions in her voice.
“You never told me about the beaten up part before.” I hug her tightly. I want to kiss her pain away.
“I was ashamed of myself.” She looks away.
“It’s not your fault. Look at me, Shane.” I lift her chin up. “None of it was your fault. When I look at you, knowing what you have been through and seeing what you have become. It makes me proud.”
She just stares at me.
I heard someone playing a guitar. Suddenly, an idea comes to me.

Thanks for posting ^^ The scene where Carmen sings was…weird…I have to admit that I laughed when I imagined that, but it was nice to see Carmen supporting Shane. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for your next chapter.
haha, Carmen can sing! Sarah’s interview on Drop TV is on YouTube. Glad you find it funny though!
Wow, the Shane/Paige/Gabe scene had my eyes popping out of their sockets ! Poor Paige. She’s been played in the nastiest of ways :( That man is an ass.
Of course Carmen can sing!!!! She’s not just a pretty face. It was a nice post, i really enjoyed the two songs and the way everything is moving. It’s nice to see how they get closer and closer. PPS Loving every single word of it.
I love that Carmen and Shane are so connected and in tune with each other emotionally that Carmen knows where to find Shane when she’s troubled and she also knows how to cheer her up… with love and sweet songs. Keep on writing. I think this is the real deal. PPS
Ugh. I hate that Shane lost Shay. I like the way you had Carmen cheer her up though. Wow..Shane’s mom looking for her. That will be interesting. It was also an interesting development with Carmen’s step dad being abusive. Adds more to her character development. I like it.
Oh please don’t let it end. Keep posting now…
There’s so much going on it’s great!! I really hate Gabe, he is such a horible person. I love how Carmen and Shane can just be there for each other despite the fact that their relationship is really up in the air. It shows that no matter what the current circumstances are they truly care for each other…and that’s something to build a relationship on. I really hope that Shane’s mom coming into the picture is a good thing…I don’t think I could handle anymore heartbreak for Shane. Awesome job!!!
