The Real Tibette – Christmas 2023

    ‘Mom!’

Sasha bounded into the hallway, then came to an abrupt halt when she saw Tina and Bette kissing. ‘Oh.’ She pulled a face, as she’d taken to doing lately whenever she caught them being physically affectionate.

‘Hey, baby,’ said Bette, ‘we’re back and Sol’s better now.’

Herbie appeared behind Sasha. Bette gave him a wink. He smiled.

‘Where’s Aunt Alice?’ Bette asked Sasha.

    ‘In the kitchen.’

Bette extricated herself from Tina’s embrace, chucked her daughter under the chin, then went to find Alice and give her her mission, should she choose to accept it.

Cleaning up was done by professionals while the whole family decamped to a local movie house to watch It’s A Wonderful Life. When they got out, Shane and Jo hailed a cab and headed off to the heliport on the lower West Side.

Just before they got in, Tina grabbed Shane and whispered ‘Good luck!’ in her ear. Shane grinned. And Bette saw it.

When they got home, it was time for hot chocolate and a board game, then bed for Sasha. Bette took her up.

‘Are you gonna tell Mom what I did?’ Sasha asked as she slipped into bed.

‘Yes,’ said Bette as she picked up a few books and toys and put them back on the shelves. Then she turned and looked at her daughter. ‘We only kept it from her today because we didn’t want to spoil her party. You know that, right?’

Sasha said nothing. Just looked down at her hands. Bette went and sat on the edge of her daughter’s bed, down at the foot so she could look her in the eye.

‘It was wrong of you to go in other people’s rooms, Sasha. It’s important to me that you understand that.’

    ‘I do. But—’

    ‘No, no buts.’

Sasha pouted. Then her eyes filled with tears. Bette knit her brow. Sasha’s usual m.o. wasn’t tears, unless she was genuinely upset.

    ‘What?’ Bette asked. ‘What’s wrong?’

Sasha sniffed, then wiped her nose on her hand. Bette looked round for a tissue, but the box was empty.

‘I went in the rooms to look for presents,’ the little girl croaked. ‘Because MoMo told me Santa isn’t real, but then Ben said he was, but then Kendrick said he wasn’t, and then Herbie said his mom and dad get him presents, and Shane told me she was friends with Santa, and I was confused, because why would she lie, so I went to see if there were presents in our house too, and then I found the ring and I’m sorry but I was confused.’

Happy holidays to you also from across the big blue pond!

Interesting party with lots of extraordinary guests. Shame Bette couldn’t get to meet AB – but maybe will anyway.

Wow, Shane popping the BIG question. Hope this time its forever & they’ll both be happy together.

Gotta say that Sol might want to rethink about hanging around Sasha in the future – that girl is dangerous to be around!!

Thanks for another great glimpse into the wonderful life of Bette & Tina & their awesome family.

Thinking though that there should be a quick follow-up chapter about their Christmas Day though!! Ha!!

      Thanks for the treat.

      • Hi pal! YOu’ve just reminded me that I owe you an email! Oops. Really dropped the ball – sorry.

Thanks for reading this. And yes, I am moulding Sasha into being Trouble with a capital T. No fun if it’s all too easy, is there?? ;-)

I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a good time over the holidays.

    3. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha! Of course she will be the one telling tales of Mama T and Mama B to her children. What a pleasant surprise this Christmas night to find your story. And then to have Shane pop the question! Thank you for keeping the spirt of Tibette alive. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the readers of this site. Donate please!

      • Hi majic! Hope you’re well! Thanks so much for reading this story and for commenting. It means a lot to me. :-)

Y’know, it’s a real dilemma, writing this story, whether to skip ahead in time or not. In some ways, I’d really like to. I’me very drawn to the idea of writing B&T’s life with adult kids and grandkids etc. But then you end up skirting around the ‘d’ word and I don’t ever want to write that.

Agree about supporting this site! Hope you had a good time over the holidays!
