The Real Tibette – Christmas 2023

‘Oh hey,’ said Tina suddenly, ‘Jo told me you’re going on a helicopter ride?’

Shane glanced at her, a little sharply. ‘She did?’

‘It’s tonight, right? The night-time trips are so beautiful.’

    ‘Uh, yeah. Yeah, that’s right.’

A little smile tugged at the corner of Shane’s mouth. Tina narrowed her eyes, in curiosity. The smile became a grin.

    ‘What?’ asked Tina.

Shane looked down, then all the way up, and shook her head. ‘Whoo, boy . . . it’s . . .’ She sighed, and eventually met Tina’s gaze again. ‘Just nervous,’ she explained.

‘Oh, those things are fine,’ said Tina. ‘Bette was practically catatonic when we went up there on one of our anniversaries, but—’

‘No,’ Shane put in. ‘Not the helicopter.’

Tina held her friend’s gaze, which sparkled with barely contained joy. And then she got it. The pretty hazel eyes widened, the shapely lips parted.

    ‘Really?’ Tina breathed.

Shane bit her lower lip, then started laughing. ‘Am I fucking crazy?’

Tina’s reply was simply to hug her. Tight.

‘Does Bette know?’ she whispered in Shane’s ear.

    ‘No.’

    Tina hugged her again.

When Bette got home, Solly trotted in the front door as if nothing had happened. Tina saw him immediately and knelt down to say hello.

‘Is he okay?’ she asked Bette.

    ‘Mhmm.’

Tina glanced at his backside. ‘You cleaned him up?’

Bette pulled a noncommittal face and looked round for Alice or Kit or Sonny or Jed or Sasha or Herbie. Anyone who actually knew what was going on and could get the ring back in its box in Shane’s room asap.

But Tina wanted a proper hello.

‘So, where did you go?’ she asked, putting her arms around Bette’s neck.

‘Not far,’ Bette replied, then bent her head to kiss Tina. But Tina drew back.

‘Why don’t I believe you?’ the blonde asked, looking deep into her wife’s dark-brown eyes.

Bette smirked, and blushed, then shook her head. ‘I have no idea.’

‘Well . . .’ said Tina, narrowing her eyes. ‘I’ll get it out of you.’ Bette laughed. ‘And anyway, you’re not the only one with a secret.’

    ‘Oh?’

‘Mhmm.’ Tina leaned up and gave her wife a tiny kiss on the mouth. ‘But I’m keeping it until—’

Happy holidays to you also from across the big blue pond!

Interesting party with lots of extraordinary guests. Shame Bette couldn’t get to meet AB – but maybe will anyway.

Wow, Shane popping the BIG question. Hope this time its forever & they’ll both be happy together.

Gotta say that Sol might want to rethink about hanging around Sasha in the future – that girl is dangerous to be around!!

Thanks for another great glimpse into the wonderful life of Bette & Tina & their awesome family.

Thinking though that there should be a quick follow-up chapter about their Christmas Day though!! Ha!!

      Thanks for the treat.

      • Hi pal! YOu’ve just reminded me that I owe you an email! Oops. Really dropped the ball – sorry.

Thanks for reading this. And yes, I am moulding Sasha into being Trouble with a capital T. No fun if it’s all too easy, is there?? ;-)

I hope you’re well and that you’ve had a good time over the holidays.

    3. Sasha, Sasha, Sasha! Of course she will be the one telling tales of Mama T and Mama B to her children. What a pleasant surprise this Christmas night to find your story. And then to have Shane pop the question! Thank you for keeping the spirt of Tibette alive. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the readers of this site. Donate please!

      • Hi majic! Hope you’re well! Thanks so much for reading this story and for commenting. It means a lot to me. :-)

Y’know, it’s a real dilemma, writing this story, whether to skip ahead in time or not. In some ways, I’d really like to. I’me very drawn to the idea of writing B&T’s life with adult kids and grandkids etc. But then you end up skirting around the ‘d’ word and I don’t ever want to write that.

Agree about supporting this site! Hope you had a good time over the holidays!
