    The Reluctant (chapter 6)

“Fiiinnnne. I guess I better get to it, then!”

                                                                        ***

I sat at my usual table at The Planet, staring down at a blank screen on my laptop. The place was unusually empty when I’d arrived, but was now filling up. It was still quiet, which was a welcome change, instead of the usual loud clanging of utensils and over-spoken conversations. Not exactly the best writing environment. But this morning, it was kind of nice. Probably because I’m here so fucking early, I thought to myself. It wasn’t even 10 yet. I must have been up since at least 7. I was supposed to be writing an article for the magazine, but once again, I had Dana on the brain. This time my thoughts were worried, though. I was scared for her. What if Tonya flipped out when Dana told her? She was one crazy bitch, after all. I didn’t want my girl to get hurt. No way. Tonya wouldn’t do anything like that, I told myself, trying to ease my nerves. Maybe a quick nap would help calm me down. I put my head down on the table and closed my eyes, letting out a yawn.

Eventually I heard footsteps approaching my table and I sat back up in time to see Dana sitting down across from me.

“Hey, you!” I said, not sure whether to be cheerful or gloomy. I mean, she just broke up with her girlfriend. I know I may think it’s a good thing, but it was probably still a bit depressing for her.

“Heeeey,” She replied, dragging the word out. “How’s your face?” She pointed to my eye, and I shrugged.

“It hurts, but I’ll live. So?” I asked, bouncing up and down with anticipation. “Did you do it?” She bit her lip and looked down, guiltily. I let out a sigh. So close… “You didn’t do it.”

“I was going to! I was!” I tilted my head, waiting for her to continue. “Her parents were there, Al.”

“Oh shit! No way!” I let out a laugh, then quickly covered my mouth.

“It’s not funny! I couldn’t do it with them there. That’s pretty much immoral. It would have come back to haunt me. Plus, you know, her dad’s crazy. She told me this one time, her sister’s boyfriend broke up with her in their parent’s house while her dad was home, and he chased the guy around with a kitchen knife.” I resisted the urge to laugh again. “He would have killed me.”

    2. Oh dork!..nice way to end this chappy, i loved the humor in this one. I was totally cracking up when dana said “GAH” lol, when her phone rang. That was so dana. Hehe, i am brillant! lol, ok maybe not brillant, but i notice the little details, like the whole watch. Well i really hope that was dana does isn’t too terrible, i dunno. We’ll see, it had to be bad for alice to feel the way she did. Btw, i also liked how in this chappy it seemed like alice was actually talking to us, which i don’t think you’ve done b4. hmm. Well post soon!

    3. Great chapter. I was cracking up through the entire thing. You know, no one can write a Danish fic without mentioning Alice’s bed head at least once! It makes me laugh! Well, please update again soon! I can’t wait to read what you have coming next!!

    4. This is wonderful, you had me laughing the entire time. Don’t know that I am looking forward to Day 5, I can see it’s going to make Alice feel bad. I don’t like seeing sweet Al upset… Nor do I like seeing Dana make dumb mistake after dumb mistake. But they usually figure it all out and I hope that is the case this time. Please post soon.

    5. Another great chapter. “”Okay, pookie. Here, catch!” And she made a kissy sound into the phone” that whole bit made me laugh! keep up the amazing writing! Update soon!

    6. Oh Dana *sigh of frustration* just tell Tonya already! ;) Loved the update! It was funny. Btw, I was reading Lost in you by Sammysgirl. And actually, it wasn’t the first time that I made that mistake(posting a commnt on the wrong story). So, who earns the title of dork of the year now? ;)
