The Return Chapter 4
Tina was startled out of her deep thoughts by the announcement that the plane had started its descent. She had pulled out her computer to take a look at a few emails before she arrived in hopes it would settle her nerves. She scrolled down and noticed a header from someone from USC. She opened the email and to her surprise, a professor from USC was inquiring about Lez Girls. She had not thought about that movie nor the book in years. She quickly emailed the professor back, letting her know that she would be in town for a few days and was willing to speak to her about the film. Tina responded to a few more emails before the announcement was made to put all electronics away.
Tina decided that she would drive straight to Bette’s house before she checked into the hotel. She had checked social media and learned that the media had camped out in front of Bette’s house. Tina thought Bette had made a good decision to have Angie stay at Jordi’s house. Tina knew that Bette would step in front of a bullet to protect Angie and was sure this situation came from that mind frame.
Tina parked around the block to avoid dealing with the media as much as possible. She saw Alice leave and how they swarmed around her. Tina didn’t need to have her name drawn into this mess, but she was determined to get to her family. If that meant fighting off the media, then so be it. Tina had hoped Bette had not changed the locks as she still had keys to the house that she only lived in a short time. Tina walked through the the crowd of news reporters with her head slightly down and slipped the key into the slot.
”Thank God,” Tina thought to herself as she entered through the gate.
Tina could barely hear the voices on the other side of the door as she approached, but it was clearly Bette. She sounded very upset. Tina knew that tone and the determination that went with it. Bette was a lot of things, but when it came to her family, her decisions were always based on what she thought was in their best interest.
Tina reached up to ring the door bell when the door swung open and there in front of Tina was the women she left almost two years ago.
Tina hesitated before she spoke, ”Angie called me,” she said cautiously.
”Tina,” was all Bette could say as a multitude of emotions crossed her face.
The two women stared at each other. They may be estranged but Tina new this women intimately and there was little Bette could hide from her. She knew in that moment, coming was a good decision and silently thanked Angie for calling.

Sorry, too sad for me. Can’t accept not happy finale for Tibette in any stories.
Excellent background story…..your rendition of this background for the ten years is the only thing that even makes some sense as to what happened in the then years since TLW. I’m not sure about the molestation by the sister. I have never accepted that as canon for the story. That was just too bizarre for me. As for the breakup and the divorce, yes that is the way I imagine it. I don’t see them having a lot of screaming fights, just basically drifting apart until on day Tina thinks she needs to get away for a while. And then she get hung up with her job and meets Carrie and all of a sudden she’s being carried away by the stream of life and away from Bette and from Angie. Tina becomes so engaged in her life and her schedule, that she simply fails to do any real self examination as to what it is she wants in life or how to resolve her prior life with Bette. So she does what is easy – she ignores her past life or as least avoids it. So Bette is left with a failed relationship which has no closure and no real understanding as to why it broke up. That is the reason Bette is having difficulty moving on.
As the author, you are the one who will have to explain this. And you have had a real good start with this chapter.
Thanks for this chapter….. Keep it coming…. i think your doing great.
Thank you for your thoughts. I had put a lot of thought into what the writers did and without a back story it just isn’t believable. I am a social worker by profession and the molestation stuff I jus couldn’t let go of, but that is just me.
Took me some time to catch up but I’m intrigued with your story line. You said, you are a Tibetter, right? So I trust that you will present a better solution/ending for the Tina and Bette situation than the LW GenQ did. Your background story already is!
Please keep writing, I’ll keep reading and commenting ;-)
